I read the manual and it clearly states that the CD can play MP3 Or WMA. Now to your solution, You are wrong partly. AUX can play any damn audio that comes out of any player as long as you can hook up a cable from the source to the AUX on your car. But 2006 onwards Honda started to provide CDs that can play MP3 as well. There is a limit of 99 folders or 255 files/folders all together. And there are suggested bit rates that work with the CD/MP3 player.! NOTE: I am a computer Science grad and work/live on software development and I write software for Iphones.

I was able to play MP3 (CD) on my CRV. And yes, I can play MP3 files arranged in folders in a CD. Reading the manual and by trial and error I found that it plays VBR MP3 files and remember the number of files 255 in total folders + files / max 99 folders.

MP3s are a different format from a regular CD. You can use an MP3 player through the AUX jack, but not a CD with MP3s on it.

My Audi A5 suddenly not playing my CDs ..says unreadable on any cd I place in slot

If the CDs are store not home made you may need a cleaning disk. The sell these for DVD , it has small brush that rotates to clean lens.
if you player can play homemade then you need to make sure the file extension matches most common Windows names. Winamp etc.
Make sure if MP3 you have left space most cars will accept 700 mb discs but use only 650 - 680 space for you files.
Check CD for scratches or any defects to surface.

get an aftermarket deck. If you don't have the bose system, the OEM non bose does NOT play mp3 cds. It only plays audio cds or burned audio cds. It does have the aux jack if you hook up an mp3 player or your iphone/android phone to play Pandora using a headphone cable.
