My 97 Toyota corolla will not stay running after going through deep water. Most of the engine compartment was briefly submerge. It starts but runs rough and dies if I try put it in drive and try to accelerate. The check engine light is also now on. It has been sitting a couple days but still has the same issue.

Possible exhaust restriction.
Could be cat converter.
You can try and unhook the exhaust system and try it.
If the car will run a few minutes try a vacum guage hooked up to engine vacuum.
If you get a very low reading that would be your answer.

Where in the eng compartment is the shut off switch for the eng when its not charging

There is no switch in the engine compartment to shut off the engine, you either have an electrical problem going on or your fuel pump is weak or just about dead and can't keep supplying the car with enough fuel to run.

My 1993 Toyota Corolla stalls and will not stay running.

If changing the battery does not solve problem, or only solves it until the battery dies then have the alternator tested. I have noticed on several occasions with a couple of my vehicles that at times of very high moisture in the air they do not stay running, once the humidity goes down they are fine.

I have a 3 month old corolla 2012 le automatic. The engine temperature stays below C when I start the car in the morning and heating doesn't work. Even letting the engine run on idle for a few min

You need to have the dealer look at this, if you fool around with it you can void your warranty. Toyota looks for any legal excuse to void the warranty.

My nissan terrano ll will not start. new glow glug,s and battery fitted

How deep was this water..over headlight deep?
The air intake is just behind the left headlight, submerging this may cause water to be drawn into the engine. If this happens, water is not compressible, and the pistons hit, and the con rods bend which reduces the compression enough for the engine not to start.
That is, of course, the worst case scenario.
Diesel engines will start on just about any oily spray introduced to the inlet manifold..such as wd40, crc556 etc. while spinning the starter, spray same into the turbo inlet.
If the engine starts and runs even if a little roughly, you have a fuel problem.
DO NOT USE ETHER!!!
If the glow plugs are working, you will get an explosion, not combustion. It will not be a good thing........

Belt diagram 1997 toyota corolla? alternator belt replacement?

The 97 Corolla has three accessory belts. The alternator belt is the one you see when you look down on the passenger side standing near the front of the engine compartment. If fits over the alternator and the engine pulley. The belt beneath it is the a/c belt (if the car has a/c). It fits over the engine pulley and the a/c compressor. The power steering belt is toward the rear of the engine compartment, on the same side. It fits around the engine pulley and the power steering pump.

Replacing the alternator belt is not too difficult. Standing in front of the car and facing towards the rear, loosen the locking bolt under the right side of the alternator. Then loosen the alternator hinge bolt on top of the alternator. Now you are ready to loosen the alternator belt tensioner adjustment bolt, accessed under the alternator from the front. Turn the tensioner until the old belt is loose enough to remove, then turn it further so that the new belt will go on easily. Replace the belt and re-tension until you have about 1/4 in. to 1/8 in. of play in the belt, tighten the lock bolt and the hinge bolt, and run the engine. If the belt squeals it means you need more tension, but do not overtension. Recheck it after a few days.

'95 Corolla Engine Question

An engine from another Corolla up to 1997 will fit. There are 2 engines though. 4A-fe (1.6L) or a 7A-fe (1.8L) They look similar but run different Engine managment computers. The 4A-fe uses a 3spd auto trans and the 7A-fe uses a 4spd auto trans. Also some of the wiring may be different.
Hope this helps.
