Check engine light on newly purchased suzuki forenza 06

Hi, First of all, receive my most sincere greetings.2 weeks ago, I purchased a Suzuki forenza 06, 36,708 miles only, one owner, from "anything on wheels".I checked for recalls, there is none, and ran a report which came out good. Now, the check engine light came on. It was on for a whole and, since i have the dealers warranty, i took it in inmediately. They kept my car for 2 days and said they never got the light on, couldnt find what the problem was unless they saw the light on. I picked up my car yesterday, today, I have the light on again (I do see it, thou, they didnt). I checked the oil, the gas cap; all good. They said they ran a report and cant figure out whats wrong, but the bottom line is: The "check engine light is still on". If the dealer "anything on wheels" cant figure it out now that i'm under warranty, whats gonna happen when i no longer have the warranty? What should i do? why is that light on?please, advise.Thank you very much,Veronica Cordido

Sounds like an intermittend problem. Once the engine light comes on, the computor stores a code in it and can be retrieved whether the light is on or not, called a pending code, I have done it plenty of times.I would take the car back, or to another dealer and tell them to hook up a code scanner to it.It's under warranty, they should do further testing.
Once the warranty runs out, you are on your own, you pay for what ever is wrong, and can be expensive.

Would you say suzuki forenza 06 is a good car to buy?

They have been doing well and there problems are fewer than most. Sounds like you have a pretty good car. Have those trouble codes checked and repaired though so it does'nt cause problems down the road. Good luck.

I have had the same problem recently. I did some searching on the internet and came up with nothing. I went out to my car and decided to take a look at the gas cap. I noticed that after turning it and hearing the clicks that are supposed to tell you it is tight, the cap came off again with no effort at all. I brought the gas cap to Advance Auto Parts and I found out that the spring mechanism inside the top of the gas cap was worn from use. This was causing the vapors to leak out inturn causing the check engine light to come on. I bought a replacement STANT gas cap (specifically for the 2006 Suzuki Forenza) for $9 and the light has been off for the past two weeks. The dealer wanted $80 to diagnose the problem and then another $30 if they needed to order a gas cap. So, I decided $9 was better to waste then $110 trying to figure out the problem. I hope this helps.
