There are a few issues it can be. Do you have access to a code reader? With a decent scan tool/reader you can view live data of sensors such as the idle throttle positioning sensor, idle speed control valve, crank sensor etc.. I'm sure its a sensor issue and nothing to be concerned about. If the tps is suspect you can disconnect it from the throttle body housing to intentionally through the car into "limp mode" aka get me home mode. This will bypass the sensor and keep the vehicle idling and determine its I fact the problem at hand. Because bit started at home and them shut off and now does not start at all, I suspect the crank sensor may be malfunctioning. The best way is not to through parts into the vechile but rather troubleshoot the problem at hand. A chiltons manual found at any major auto store chain such as Pepboys, advance auto parts, or napa would help tremendously as they have a "no start" trouble shooting guide that's fairly ez to follow if you have a basic understanding of automotive technology. Again, its most likely a low cost sensor you can purchase off eBay but with the lack of information you provide its difficult to pinpoint. You can expect to pay 200-500 for this type of no start condition from you're local repair shop. Another great resource is you're local honda dealer. Simple go in person. An ask to speak with a service writter. Explain the situation and push to have him pass the information to one of his technician. Dealerships get no start problems like this all the time. They can most likely here you're complaint and know exactly what sensor this is.

Check your EGR valve, see if it's stuck open. Next look for vacuum leaks, then check cam timing. Check engine light on? If so, get the codes.

Have 2002 Nissan Xterra with a 3.3 engine. The engine stopped running 5 months after doing a cylinder head rebuild. She would crank, but wouldn't start. Checked trouble codes and found P0340 Camshaft...

Sounds like TPS sensor. If you replaced the TPS sensor you have to put a relearn program on it again to calibrate the sensor. If you don't have a programmer or know someone you have to take it to a shop and have it done takes literally 5 min

My 97 intrepid will start up, but putter out within seconds

Map Sensor or Crank Sensor. If you have a code reader the map sensor should throw a code, the crank sensor most often will not. Both will cause the car to start, idle to around 1,000 R's and then die.

Van runs good then stalls out. then hard to start. If i let it sit for 5 minutes it starts again no problem. Then stalls again shortly there after.

This sounds like a failing camshaft position sensor and weak crank shaft sensor .When crank shaft sensor gets weak it will stop functioning. When crank shaft sensor stops working then ECM will not control fuel system and the fuel will stop flowing. And this can cause the problem. When crank shaft sensor gets heated it will stop working, but when the car shuts off, the sensor gets cold and works for few minutes and sensor again gets hot and it stalls. ---------- Get the crank shaft sensor tested on your Chevrolet venture. ---------- There are many other possibilities for this stalling problem, but crank shaft problem is indicating in your case. No spark and no rpms showing on tach while cranking over?

when ignition switch is placed on "on", are several lights not lit on the instrument panel. Such as check engine, abs, battery, oil..etc!! All warning lights are to be lit momentarily when the ignition is placed in "on" position. This vehicle may be part of a recall in 2002, which replaces faulty ignition switches. Poor design of internal contacts and excessive power consumption leads to power failure to vital engine components. Typical symtoms include: intermitted stalling, no spark, hard starts. Inspect the ignition switch for dark residue, and replace if necessary!!

Sounds like your IAC motor is getting stopped up. Clean out the passage, and the throttle body. If that doesn't work, get a new IAC motor.
