Try replacing the cable and if it has seperate coil ingnition swap the one misfiring with another....If misfire changes with to cylinder with the swapped coil, you've found your problem.....Regards Johngee

Reasons for cylinder misfires

Ford coil on plug systems are multi strike ignition (spark) under 1300 rpm then go to single strike a single cylinder misfire can be created by several things . #1 Test engine compression on a cranking engine compression it should be around 150 lbs but if gauge reads different COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine #2 check engine running compression this will be around 120 lbs then rev over 2000 rpm and check pressure drop again COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine. any drop would indicate valve train problems. #3 All internal engine is fine then external problems are present vacuum leaks and or fuel injection volume is low.

HOW TO REPAIR A po307 engine code on a 2007 chevy silverado

the code p0307 is a misfire code on cylinder number 7 which is the 3rd cylinder on the driver side need to check spark plug and plug wire for that cylinder as it can be anything from a sticking valve to a vacuum leak what i do to check this is remove number 5 cylinder plug and wire and install them on cylinder number 7 and put plug and wire from 7 on 5 and clear codes and drive till light comes on and see if it comes up with same code if it does you will need to check for a vacuum leak or a valve problem with cylinder 7 if it comes up with a p0305 then change the plug and wire

More detaisl on engine problem

sounds like coolant leaking into the cyllanders. when it runs for awhile the coolent "burns off" but when you make the engine work such as speeding up the back pressure forced more into the engine...bad head gasket or a cracked head or block ( water jacket)

Engine problem

sounds like you might need to do a compression test. did you check to see if the code was the same? if you keep running it like that it can clog you catalytic converter. Might have a bad injector also.

Engine problem

Probably a head gasket problem, once again. It's burning the coolant off the plug . To make sure ,use a "block tester" from NAPA ,it is a liquid that changes color with the presence of exhaust gas in the coolant.

I have a randome misfire code and a misfire on number 7 sylinder. The engine runs ruf and respones as if there is to much fuil going to the engine. I have replased the spark plugs and the entire number one...

probably camhead gasket went, it can give a misfire as well, so spark plug at cylinder 7 should be wet, there also has to be white smoke like steam coming from tail pipe even when engine is hot and water dripping

Cylinder misfire 8

Are you loosing engine coolant. In you have a Northstar the head bolts rip out of the block and cause a coolant leak to the cylinder.Pull that spark plug and see if it has a large white buildup on the plug. If it does you probably need a $4500.00 repair

1999 ford taurus- yellow engine warning light keeps showing cylinder 1 misfire. I have: 1. Changed out plugs and wires, 2. switched wires around, 3. replaced fuel injector, 4. replaced coil. Still...

Yes.
You could have a leaking head gasket or a crack in the cylinder head.
After driving the car for a few days the spark plug should show signs of coolant on the tip.
You may want to do a compression test to see if that cylinder is low on compression too.

Cylinder number 3 misfire

It can be a bad spark plug, plug wire, burnt valve, blown head gasket, or worn piston rings. Replace the spark plugs and plug wires and see if the miss goes away. If it does not then have a compression test run on the engine. In addition if you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak, and you see white smoke coming from the exhaust you may have a blown head gasket which will cause a miss.
