honestly i dont know the second one but there is no way its for fuel regulation on high revs ,, maby for inceased idle speed when under loa ,,, ie aircon or all lights and heaters on ,,, to me it sounds as if main jet is blocked in carb ,,,, choke is feeding in fuel in place of main jet ,, ie fuel starvation ,,,,

Truck wont crank, im getting fuel all the way up to the engine block but nothing through the carb, i can pour fuel in the top of the carb and it will run till that fuel is gone but when i try to crank it...

in the carb there is a needlejet and float that regulates the amount of fuel in the chamber of the carb ,,, the jet could be stuck ... or also there is a main jet that feeds fuel into the manifold fromthe carb ,,, this could be blocked ,,,, you will have to remove top of carb to check these ,,,,dont open unless u have some mechanical experience because they can be complicated ,,,, if the truck is not in use that much or not used for long periods the needlejet could be stuck shut ,,,, a firm tap on the cover near the fuel feed can sometimes free it,,, and i domt mean to hammer it !!!

1980 tr7 duel strongberg carbs. clean gas, pump works, rebuilt carbs. will not start! will run untill starting fluid burns -off.

Adjust the nut under the main jet needle to give it fuel to run with. The throttle control pushes the needles in too far and block of the jet so you have to give the jets a chance to allow fuel in

I have a 2002 yamaha kodiak 400. It wil idle, but when you give it throttle it dies, you can hold your hand partially over the intake and it will take the gas fine. What do I do?

Hi Rick

If old gas has may have always kept in the carb over the winter or over time gas turns to a varnish like gooing,, when not Eng not running for a long time,,, and it may have plugged you Idle jet inside under the bow... whats happening its starving for fuel and that jet is not letting enough fuel through the Idling circuit of your Carb,, and wont Idle so putting your hand over the carb you are getter more fuel through cold start jets and circuits or you may even have water and dirt in the jets and bowl check you fuel tank if it fresh fuel check your fuel filter replace it if you going to clean out carb always use fuel stabilizer in your fuel tank just incase you dont get to fire it up some seasons , one other thing look for any vacuum lines off or loose carb bolts and screws. Bottom line time to blow out the carb and even sock t carb cleaner if real bad but you need to remove all rubber parts from Carb I would leave it just take bowl off remove jet and look for small passage ways in the jets u need a real thin stiff wire like they use for weldig torch tips find one that fits.

hi, you dont have to yell. there are no "jets" to change. get a code reader and check the engine code. it should tell you whats wrong so you can fix it. bad oxygen sensor, bad map sensor, bad mass sensor all these can cause heavy fuel useage.

We have a 1980 moto-ski supersonic snowmobile and at times it just flies, but sometimes it doesnt seem to wanna open up,and this year it wont start seems like there might be no fuel being pumped?or maybe...

there is a problem with older motors of that era ... the fuel lines, filters and rubber parts were often not designed to handle alcohol fuel .. lots of thngs like chain saws, snow blowers and such are having frequent failures now when used with our "new gas" ... replacing the parts doesnt fix the problem if the same design parts are used again ... the fuel lines actually desolve in some cases .. that makes a mess in the carb ... the filter is often attached to the flex fuel line inside the gas tank .. it sometimes just falls off .. you can replace those damaged parts with alcohol resistant equivilants or use only alcohol free gas (still available some places) ... you can check for a damaged perhaps swollen fuel line, gas cap and primer bulb .. if every thing looks ok then maybe you are lucky and already have resistant stuff ... if you leave fuel in the tank while the unit is being stored then you likely have deposits in the carb .. its really easy to clog the jets as the fuel evaporates and degrades ... so you may need the carb cleaned or replaced .. new jets are sometimes easier to do than cleaning the old ones..

I have an 1982 f 250 4.9 and go through carburaters a lot. New ones last may be a year then start burnning way to much gas. The carb has an idle adjustment and a curb idle adjustment no air gas mixture...

1982 ?? their wouldnt be any adjustment as they are fixed jet carbs ,you could try fitting new jets but whats causing them to eat away in the first place i dont know unless its the fuel additive that you have to add to the unleaded fuel

2001 Xterra not starting after runing out of fuel

try using some starting fluid it is possible that the fuel pump burnt out from running dry, if starting fluid works then it is a fuel problem ie air in the line, clogged filter, bad regulator, damaged jet, clogged jets, no pressure , .....
