If the plastic toothed cable is broken. on "some" model cars I have seen where you can buy just the antenna and not the antenna motor too. if you buy only the replacement antenna it should come with the plastic cable attached to it. the cable will have teeth on it. I have on an old volvo I had once performed the following: I with the old antenna removed from the motor section along with the broken section of the plastic cable, turn on the radio. then feed the new antenna down into the hole and hold it steady. turn the radio off and then it will start to wind the cable down into the motor while pulling the antenna down. thats it and it worked perfect from then on. I hope this helps. if it works for your model please rank this answer... thanks, good luck

Had problem in the past. emailtozash's solution worked for me. Only suggestion is fine tuning; first check which way the plastic cable is going to be taken up. On my '94 Towncar, you can pull back the carpeting on the driver's side of the trunk and see which direction the cable will reel in. When you insert the cable you want the teeth to be facing so the motor screw mechanism will engage the cable teeth (and not just gnaw on the untoothed side of it). In my '94 motor is on top of the take-up reel. Second, suggest you have someone else operate the radio so you can keep the antenna close to vertical and plastic cable aligned per above; may also have to do a little jiggling to get the teeth to mesh.

Something is drawing down the battery on my 2005 Odyssey and the draw is coming from the under the hood fuse #15 40 amp. What does that Fuse control. When fuse is pulled engine will not start.

Fuse 15 supplies power to a whole bunch of things so it is little wonder that your Odyssey won't start with it removed. You may have to remove other fuses one at a time to find what is causing the current drain.

Power seat won't recline

Sounds like the motor and gearing has worn out, they take a lot of punishment. Replacements are available (sometimes it works out much much cheaper to buy a whole second-hand seat). But that depends how much you like the car...

My 1999 Volkswagon beetle won't start and i replacestarter. Now I'm geting a clicking noise where before Iwasn't. battery is good had that tested. It's at 84% but the car has a push button...

You say you renewed or was the starter a second hand one because you say when you turn it over you hear a clicking noise , that's the solanoid on the starter motor where it not turning the starter over , a little check to do is put the car in 4 gear handbrake off and push it a bit until you hear the engine turn and then try and start it if still the same check and replace the starter as I don't know if yours is new or second hand

Hold the break, put in neutral. Let off the brake. When you start to roll, hold the brake and put the car in park. Then try the key.

I found the Vehicle Speed Sensor. But I just can't get the connector off of it. Any suggestions on how to remove the connector, and how to install the sensor?

you have to p?sh the little clip thing on the side of the connector for it to come off and as they get older they become more brittle ,because i value my hands i have become ruthless with these connectors and if they will not push in i push a screwdriver down the side where the push in bit is and break the plastic apart ,then change the sensor or whatever and when i refit i just put a bit of contact adhesive on the connector to hold it on ,Yes i know its a right cowboy job but i have had one two many deep cuts from bits of plastic and now i just dont care as to me my hands are my living and the car is plastic bits and as such they are expendable .

Trunk does not completely close

The trunk latch contains a switch which closes when the trunk lid is pushed closed by hand, then this switch sends power to the trunk lid pull down motor which then finishes closing the trunk lid. Often the switch or motor will go bad and the whole thing will stop working. It takes a little testing to figure out which part is at fault but they are usually quite easy to fix.

Spare tire is stuck, will not release

The crank mechanism gets very little attention but should be lubed from time to time but few people do and then this is what happens. To get the spare off without letting it down first is tricky and dangerous if your alone but with help and by going carefully, undo the anchor from the rim by pry it down with a bar until you can get the whole thing to move at least 2" from the truick bed,at this time the cable may break so don,t lay under it.Once it has come down the 2 or so inches push the tire and rim back up to slacken the cable then feed the hanger to the inside of the rim,now at any point the rim will fall off the truck so extra hands are needed to lower it to the ground.

First things first, did you verify the transmission fluid level? If the tranny is missing even just a little bit of oil it can cause slippage and a whole bunch of unexpected problems. So before considering the tranny is going out, start by checking this out cause it might just be as simple as adding a bit of fluid to the tranny to solve the problem. If the level is good, check the filter inside the transmission oil pan, cause if it is too dirty and/or clogged up, it will prevent the fluid from giving enough pressure for the tranny to work properly. If the oil level is good and the filter looks like new, the now you might have bigger problems on your hands like the solenoid bodies in the transmission, but until you have checked the first 2 things I told you, don't start digging a grave for your transmission.:p

The power antenna on my 1984 Eldorado is stuck. The motor keeps running but the antenna wont go down.

Hello, you need a new mast installed in your antenna, or a new whole unit.
If you open the trunk and on the right side by the ant. pull the mat down a little. You should now see the ant. About halfway up you will see some wires. If you disconnect either one of them your ant will quit running. The are plugged into the relay, so is is best to unplug the car harness side, if possible, but it does not matter which you do.
