Question about 2000 Renault 181
2005 Renault Megane 1.9DCi 120. After running up to working temperature won't restart until completely cold. Dash says "electronic fault". Cooling fan runs for a while after tryimng to start though engine not hot.
You can check this diagnostic fault code at Autozone and fix the problem

the vehicle is old enough that the fan blower motor sounds like it is in need of replacing. when you hit the dash it causes the brushes in the motor to contact enough to start the electrical connection, it may stop when it gets hot, or is turned off. the ticking sound is more than likely the bearings wore in the motor enough to cause the cage fan to touch the housing enough to cause the sound.

I had same Problem with 03 Megane about 6 weeks ago
and the fault on mine was the one of the Coils had gone.
got replaced £270.00 later working fine....
