Question about 2006 GMC Envoy Denali

Dash Vents not working

I can fully switch between defrost, dash, floor vents and combinations of all. i started having an infrequent problem where i would switch to the dash vents and i could hear the air rushing, but apparently it wasn't opening the door to the dash vents. usually next time i turned the truck back on it would be fine. now, no matter what i do, i can't get air to come out of the vents but when switched to dash, can still hear air rushing.

tried removing all the fuses underneath the driver's side rear seat that said A/C or HVAC but it didn't so much as even reset the hvac system, nor did it fix the problem.

Mode doors. control center. obstruction. vacuum leak.... some gm systems have a vacuum valve where the supply comes into the cab
i have found it split or broken . its bigger than a thimble and has 3 ports. normal operating design allows for defrost only when theres a loss of full vacuum. the location i have found it: has been passenger side, at the main bulkhead (or firewall) and behind or under a cover, often the RF leafscreen by the wiper area.
since your vehicle has so many components and ways to go wrong,
you may have to start disassembling to operate and watch the mode doors move. that is, once supply is verified and corrected as necessary.
if a two stage motor is half working, it can also do things like this.
now , as new as this one is, and electronics may be a factor, you may need to self test the control or use a scan tool on the bcm.
are you starting to see where a service manual is necessary?
a shortcut may be to get the recalls and tsb's for your vehicle prior to diagnosis. automotive databases are available free at most public libraries. ask for help, printing your findings is around a dime a page.
but dont print the whole thing. we need all the trees we can save

SOURCE: dash vents not working

It may be the actuator not working properly. Should be above the accelerator pedal to the right.

SOURCE: Dash vents will not blow air. Defroster and floor vents blow fine.

Is it a new vehicle? I had a new vehicle that had the same problem. Answer was that the holes weren't punched out of the vent.

I have a 1975 k5 blazer and it blows cold air it worked fine last year but now it only blows cold air even on the defrost setting what can the problem be and how can I fix it?

A vent flap actuator probably needs to be replaced. It's what moves your vent flaps from heat to A/C or to plain "vent air" when you change settings.

The discussion in the link includes vent flap actuators. Unfortunately, they also include the infamous no low speed fan problem too.

Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

Your particular actuator will be a different one than they found.
They're all a absolute pain to get at because they can be well buried in the dash. I would start looking under the dash on the passenger side, that's where most of the air control is. Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

Does the Erg vacuum solenoid cause the ac switching from vents to defrost

the ERG shouldn't have anything to do with what vents the AC comes out of, rather the dash switch that exists for changing from defrost to main vents to floor vents controls what vents are used.

My ac unit is working but will not blow air out of the dash vents. The blower is working

Hey man if the blower is working and air is coming from your other vents i have a few ideas.First i would start by checking your vent selection switch something may be stuck where the dash vents open. If the selector is fine you should try checking the ducting behind the dash it could have come apart or simply be cloged where it routes air to your dash. hope that is helpfull.

its a problem with the switching mechanism. you have to look up under the dash to see if you can see where the switching mechanism is. if you can not see it from there youll have to remove complete center dash

What is a blender/ it is suposed to a part of the heater area

The "blender" would refer to the blend actuators that change the flow of air from floor to vent to defrost or combinations. Properly working blend doors will allow you to direct air to the dash vents, the floor, the defroster, the floor and defroster or the floor and dash vents. If it is not working the heater will still work but you will hae no control oer where the air flows.

I HAVE A 2001 DODGE DURRANGO THE DEFROSTER IS NOT BLOWING ANY AIR OUT OF TOP OF DASH BUT SEEMS TO BLOW OUT OK ON ALL VENTS AND FLOOR

it sounds like the switch lever for the vents, floor and defrost is not switching the vent door that goes to the defroster hose. You need to pull the switch consol out loose from the dash and follow the cable for the defrost that goes to the hose for the defrost. You might also have a broke switch that won't pull the cable enough to open the air for the defrost hose.

No dashboard heat output

The climate control was poorly designed on these cars.

There is only heat on the floor and defrost settings, due to the layout of the ductwork.
