most likely a bad clutch master cyl....resivoir is attached to it or mounted elsewhere and attached by a large rubber hose. good luck

sounds like the clutch fluid resivior is bone dry or you have a spilt or leak in the line wich is allowing all the pressure to escape hence the pedal not moving back up, start by checking your clutch fluid level

check the slave cylinder... also unhook the line going to the slave and see if the petal gets hard? if it don;t then change the clutch master cylinder

How do i bleed the clutch on a 2009 nissan versa


Well, you size the wrench needed for the bleed valve on the slave cylinder, mounted on the transmission housing 8 or 10 mm in most cases. Make sure the clutch reservoir is full, and kept full. Then you'll need a trusted assistant to work the pedal-one who will understand the reasoning and procedure behind bleeding a hydraulic system of air trapped inside the lines-it hinders hydraulic pressure on the clutch fork to make the clutch work at all. I say trusted because you dont wanna make it an unpleasant experience (I've participated in quite enough of those videos!) Patiently explain that the clutch pedal should be depressed slowly and steadily to the floor after you have opened the bleed valve and kept depressed to the floor until you have closed the valve. So just as the pedal starts traveling down, open the bleed valve, fluid is forced down through the line and out the open valve. Best if you close it just before the pedal reaches the floor-as soon as pressure is let off, air has a chance to re-enter through the open valve, so close it quick. A couple of times should do it-when you have a steady stream of fluid, no more air, and you know the line is bled of any possibility of air, then finish tighten the bleed valve, not too tight. Check the reservoir again, and take your trusted associate to dinner.

Can't get clutch to bleed on 1996 s 10 we have bleed bleed and bleed


Hi if you have done the following to bleed the clutch.
1 open bleed screw
2 push pedal to floor and keep on floor
3 do bleed screw up
4 lift pedal
5 undo bleed screw
6 push pedal to floor
7 do bleed screw up
8 lift pedal up
you need to repeat this a few times but making sure the fluid level dont drop below the lowest level else you will get air in the system.

right now if you have done the above properly and you still either get the pedal going to the floor and staying their or you have no pedal at all then this points to their being a fault with either the clutch master cylinder or clutch slave cylinder, now in most cases the one that fails is the master cylinder this is the one that is connected to the clutch pedal now its usually this one that fails and causes the pedal to go to the floor or have no clutch.

but it could also be the slave so bare this in mind, if the pedal comes back up after pushing it down then the chances are its the slave at fault and this is the one on the gearbox that operates the clutch arm.

Clutch pedal goes and stays to the floor...car will not go in gear


could just be a leak - might check the bleed valve and along the hoses between the reservoir and the trans for points of leaking and fix as needed as the pedal will stay down to prevent pulling in air when bleeding the clutch [rather handy when bleeding without assistance]

Did you bleed the system? When you replace the the master and/or slave cylinder you have to bleed the system just as you would with brakes. There is a bleed screw on the slave cylinder. Open the bleed screw, have a helper depress and hold the clutch pedal down.Tighten the bleed screw, then release clutch. Repeat this procedure until you have removed all air from the system and the clutch pedal is firm. Keep an eye on the fluid level to avoid sucking air into the system. If you have done this, remember there is a possibility that the master or slave cylinder is defective.

Clutch pedal not diengaging the clutch


You need to check the slave/master cylinders for leaking. Loose pedal means there is no liquid inside, clutch is bleeding. Look under the vihicle for leaks and floore inside tha cabin.

if you have a hydralic clutch usually the pedal staying on the floor indicates air in the clutch lines. if so check 4 leaks at the filler and at the slave cylinder. however just bleeding the clutch system may temporarily fix your issue

Bleeding hydraulic clutch


well you will need some help
make sure the resivor is full and have someone hold the clutch pedal to the floor and crack the bleeder on the slave cyl. and close after the spert of fluid comes out. when the screw is closed have the person in the drivers seat slowly let up and push down 3 times and hold down and bleed one more time. refill your resivor and repete if you dont think the peddal is quite right. just dont run it out of fluid

im a little confused re clutch replacement normally in order to start a manual transmission car the clutch pedal needs to be pressed down all the way before the car will turnover . as you say it will start but you need to push down clutch am i right? but when you try to put it into gear grinding ?wont go in to gear yes is this whats hapinin?ok the way that these clutches work nowadays is that there is a system similar to brake system there is a resivoir for the oil and a slave cylinder that pushes the clutch throwout leaver so that the gears can be changed did you see a small cylinder that pushes against the clutch lever? does it have a hose coming from it ? this system needs to be bleed just like the brakes on your car . find the resivoir small resivoir open lid and fill with brake fluid now go under car and find slave cylinder it will be somewhere near the transmission and bellhousing there will be a hose attached there will also be a bleed nipple attached you need to open this a few turns and let it drip dont press clutch pedal when bleed screw is open it will bring air into system , you want to remove all the air in the system so get a friend to go into car and pump clutch pedal then hold it to the floor while its being held down you open bleed screw until clutch pedal hits the floor tighten bleed screw then tell friend to pump up again do this 5 or 6 times making shure clutch fluid level doesnt drop down too far keep topping it up with the fluid that squirts out while bleeding this way you dont waste fluid as well as keeping fluid from hitting the ground .anyhow after trying this slave cylinder bleeding proceedure .try to see if car will go into gear . also see that there is no adjustment on slave cylinder . also i hope that you put the clutch facing the correct direction flywheel side towards flywheel . let me know how you do with this project

Still have air in system.. Try this: Pull pedal up,fill reservoir to the top, open bleed nipple on slave cyl all the way,leave for a while to "gravity feed" keeping the reservoir full,& an eye on the nipple, until all bubbles are expelled and clean brakefluid drips out(could take a few minutes). Close the nipple, and bleed system as usual....
