2002 pontiac grand am had 1st and 2cnd gear slippage.i replaced the filter and fluid but now i do not have 3rd and fourth gear it will just not change to the gear

Perform ODBII scan. Look for speed sensor fault. Trans has to read speed to know what gear to engage. Could also be a governor problem. Try shifting from low to high gear manually

IHAVE AUTOMATIC 4 WHEEL DRIVE 6CILINDER .I CHANGED THE SPEED SENSER IN HOPES OF SOLVING PROBLEM THE MOTOR REVS UP WHEN DRIVING ACTS LIKE IT IS IN NUTRAL

It may actually BE in neutral. AUtomatc transmissions that are low on fluid often have trouble staying in gear and will slip back into neutral at times due to lack of fluid needed to engage the hydraulics required to go into the desired gear. Checking and topping up fluid may solve your problem.

HOWEVER, if it is low, they where did the fluid go (it doesnt evaporate!)???

If it isnt low and its going into neutral improperly when the stick is in drive.,..you likely have some serious engine control or transmission system problems needing immediate service. code pulls may help, but aside from a few remote issues, if its not low fluid, you really need to seek expert advice on transmission issues

02 Dodge Stratus for the 2.4 engine pO700 po733

P0700 is simply the ecm recognising that the tcm (tranny) has an error code stored/registered. The one to worry about is your p0733 code. This code means the tcm detected a gear ratio error in third gear. There's 5 main possible causes. Simple/cheap -> expensive/difficult. .. Low or dirty ATF. Add fluid if low or change fluid and filter If burnt smelling or dirty/discolored. Shifting solenoid . Check or have tested the shifting solenoids . They control fluid flow and transfer to various clutch packs for gears. Hydraulic control circuit and mechanical failure. Both of these require full rebuild. Control circuit is expensive and hard to get to . Mechanicalso is usually either a worn out/pourly adjusted clutch pack causing the gear to slip or a failing torque converter.

"Hi I Have A 2006 Lincoln Zephyr And unfortunately I Have The Dreaded Transmission Problem. My Girlfriend Went To Work Came Back Home And The Car SaT All Weekend. Monday Morning I Can't Go To Work , Car...

First check the transmission fluid level. Low fluid level acts like the transmission is in neutral.

The transmission is not difficult to remove. One way is to remove the engine and transmission out through the hood. Another way is to put the car on a lift and lower the transmission. Either way, it is very heavy and requires special equipment to handle. Transmission change is a job for a shop with the proper equipment.

Why is my gear shift so hard to move??

I believe your clutch is not disengaging fully. When this happens it may be hard to get into first gear but subsequet shifts are easier due to the fact the vehicle is moving. You probably have a hydraulic clutch system which is low on fluid or may have air in the system. Before shifting into first gear or reverse try pumping the clutch pedal 5 or 6 times then shifting, if it goes into gear easier after this then you probably have air in the system, it can be bled similar to bleeding brakes. If this doesnt work you might be low on fluid, or have a bad master or slave cylinder.

Difficult to change gear when car warmed up

Dear Phil,

If It Is An Automatic. Have The Transmission Fluid Checked. If It Is A Manual Transmission. Have You Gear Fluid Checked. Have Them Check The Master Cylinder Pump As Well. You Might Have To Flush The Transmission Fluid, Replacing The Fluid With Fresh Fluid.

Hope This Helps.

WHY DOES MY 2004 SILVERADO ****** HARD WHEN IT CHANGES FROM 1 TO 2 GEAR ?

Hard shifting could be due to seals geting hard. shrunk, brittle, it could also be because of torque converter leak down, low on ****** fluid, dirty ****** fluid filter or simpely the RPM too high or TPS not adjusted properly.
Try ading transmission treatment and see if it helps.

2001 Volvo s60 D5 very difficult to shift gear

if you have a hydraulically assisted clutch, check the reservoir. it's located on the firewall in the vicinity of the brake vacuum booster. if it's low/empty, fill it. you may have air in the system which will require bleeding. what is the mileage? you may be due for a clutch. if you google, "hard shifting manual trans" you will gain more insight on the matter.
