Ford Mondeo mk3 air con working for 5mins then blows warm

I have not used the air conditioning for any great length of time in my ford mondeo (not Focus) mk3 2.0 petrol since last summer (except for 10mins each month just to keep it working)
Recently it works great for 5 minutes then stops working. If I turn it off and wait for 10 mins or so it works again but only for 5 mins!
I had it regassed last week at Kwik fit. This did not fix the problem and they could not help any further!

Any ideas what the cause could be? I am getting tired of sitting on the M1 in traffic, a little comfort would be air con so my trousers don't stick to my legs when it gets hot! Many thanks, Rich

Try to change washer between compressor and compressor clutch. This is very often problem in Mk3. After the time the clutch is thinner and needs also thinner washer. Hope it helps

If the temp is less than around 4 degrees the a/c disables itself to prevent damage. It may give you a few minutes to clear the front screen but then turns off.

Check fluid level in radiator, thermostat might be stuck, or vaccum control to close heater core flow of hot liquid, may be stuck shut.
You may have controls on dash set to cool, not hot.

Ford mondeo mk3, intermitent dumping of water from cooing system, found crack in header tank, changed same, ran car at idle, temp guage at normal & heater blowing hot , took car for run , temp guage off...

You may have an air pocket in your system which some times happens.  One way to get rid of it is to take the upper hose off on the engine side,  fill your system with water until it runs out from your engine block, replace the hose, start your car turn you heater on and set to hi keep the radiator cap loose until the temp start to rise then close tight.  Once the air pocket had been remover you can drain some of the water from the radiator using the lower drain plug and add antifreeze.
