Hi I Have a Jag S Type which conks out at lights after a bit of rough idle but otherwise runs ok, I get the feeling that the power is slightly down the engine check light comes on and off intermitantly. Hi Micromaster

Think we may have our wires crossed I dont have a battery charging problem with the Jag its more fuel management based I have used a scanner and the readings show problem as being in the fuel loop thats why I changed the Lambda oxygen sensors pre cat and have been looking for air leaks that might upset the mixture

what exactly did you think my problem was(apart from being a smart ***)

Hi,

If we talk about DSC Fault warning has come up :-

DSC is your dynamic stability control, you probably went over something really hard and caused a fault, this is a normal response. If the fault stays on disconnect the battery and leave for five mins then reconnect, if you still have the same robelem your DSC module is faulty, it is located on the rear axel it is a block with an arm connected to the axel mid way on the axel.

So, its taken care off.

Now,

You really need the codes read to try and do any sort of diagnosis. Try a local parts store like Autozone, pepboys etc. most will read codes for free.

Any further Questions, would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Thanks for using "Fixya".

Hi there,

better check the battery terminal, and also better to clean all contacts from the battery terminal, check the wire.

check iff the battery was charging properly, if the battery was faulty it will not hold the charging for a long period of time.

Let me know for further clarifications

Still searching the right answer on Jag S TYPE- HIGH RPM PROBLEM - RPM won't pull back when foot taken off accelerator when coasting. RPM will match the running speed of vehicle. and stay the

Hi Richard, I'm not an expert on Jags, just a little jealous I don't have one. Looks like a very nice vehicle. Have a close look, inspecting all hoses and vacuum pipes on the intake manifold side of the engine for any damage or loose fitting. The problem seems to be a leakage of air which is raising the idle speed. Regards John

Sounds like you might have a stuck open EGR valve. Is the check engine light on. I would replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced, also check the air filter.

2003 mazda protege. 110,000 miles. Runs great except that it has developed a low and rough idle over the past couple of months. I hear it is supposed to idle at 900 rpm, but it idles now at 650-750 rpm...

I had the same issue except my car is a 2002 it is your idle control valve which cost anywhere from 174.00-500.00 depending where you buy the part. try www.partgeeks.com i had my car checked out at madza and my husband is a mechanic between to two i have no doubts. Good luck.

Overheating

Hi,
Taking a shot at this, I'd replace the thermostat. If it is partially open at idle it would allow enough coolant to pass through, but at higher revs, that slight allowance may not be enough to keep the engine cool.
It's inexpensive and easy enough to replace.
I hope this helps... Good luck!
