You recharged the battery but did you have it tested? Sounds like your battery has a dead cell condition. This leaves you with a battery with all the volts in the world, radio and lights come on, but that will not crank the motor because it holds no amperage. This condition will often interfere with jump starting. Sometimes you can get around this by connecting the jumper to the positive terminal and then connecting the negative to the engine block instead of the battery but that does not consistently work.

Car has been sitting 5 months without being started

the battery may be shorted out. do you have a meter to check a batteries condition? if not take the battery into the parts store and they can tell you if it has a dead short in it which means the plates inside the battery have sulphated together and wont allow current to pass through them. lead acid batteries are real bad about this if they go completly dead even if they are newer batteries.

Sounds as if the Alternator is not charging, alltough it could be a bad battery. Check the connections on the battery and make sure the cables are tight. Jump the car again, and if it starts check the alternator for output, it should be putting out close to 17 volts if the battery is dead. If the alternator charges then you probably have a battery problem, and need to replace the battery.

hi b4 renewing starter ? try this connect a jump lead to the battery negative/earth connector then the other end of lead to a suitable earth point directon engine try starting now if it works ? then problem is the batteries earth connection lead to the engine and chassis/body ? is not good or corroded/loose but by using /bypass earth direct to engine will verify this if above works as you say jump/doner battery does not work ? also check the leads/wires connected to starters solenoid are clean/secure ? this is considering age of car ?

Tried to jump start car with leads, battery sparked. lights work but engine wont start

Either you have a completly dead batt. or your starter is shot.. You can not jump a car with a flat dead Batt. but a BOOST PACK will....it's all about the AMPERAGE.

the fuse must be 'intact' for electrical system to operate properly.batteries are rated in months as far as longevity is concerned,36 mo. 60 mo. etc. if you have or have access to a volt meter, battery voltage should be 12 volts with engine off,13 to 15 volts w/ engine running indicates alternator is working.

Wont start without jump

have you checked your battery, have you checked your battery cables and their connection to make sure they are very clean/tight? because there are 3 things you need to Start your car, thats a battery, an alternator, and a starter. It sounds like your alternator should be fine, but some auto parts stores will check that for you for free.Your starter sounds like it is working To Me, of course i'm not there looking at it. your battery can be easily tested at the auto store, or maybe if you wanna get technical and dirty, you could try to hook up a friends car, to test it. If its not the battery or its connections, and if its not the alternator or some other type of connection/loose wires...maybe its the starter, and that always sucks. honestly just to be on the safe side you need to check for a loose connection first, thats an easy fix.

Can't start car even if i try the jumper cable.........

If you have a multimeter, connect it to your battery, and select an appropriate DC voltage range. On my multimeter, I use the 20volt setting.

If your battery shows 12-13.8 volts, then it is not the issue. If your battery voltage is low, then you will probably need a new battery. A flat battery can also indicate that the alternator is not recharging your battery properly, but it could also just mean that your battery is old and needs replacing.

If your engine wont turn over, and if your battery is good, it could be a faulty starter motor.

Those jump start packs need to be charged often, or the battery inside them can stop working. It is possible that your jump starter pack is also broken.

Try jump starting the car from another vehicle, with jumper leads. If you know your battery is dead, you could also just replace it with another one.
