Drivers door won't open from outside
SOURCE: driver door
The rods in the drivers door probably came off.
Somehow you got to take the door panel off from the inside and look.

One thing... If your last 3 doors works fine it's mean that problem is only in your drivers side. In VW like nickalxjoe wrote is air pump. So there might be an air leaking which you can hear. So if you can hear from where air running out try to fix this first.

inspect the door hindge pins and busings it sounds like they are getting worn out and maybe due for replacement. also look and see if the spring in the hindge is still their. if all is well have the door adjusted properly to repair your problem.

Linkage has become detached. You'll have to pull the door panel. There are steel rods (linkage) that are held in place by a PLASTIC CLIPs (GM's better idea)... The clips break or come loose. Replacements are available at GM dealership but you'll need to figure out which one is bad. Take the old piece (or pieces) along with you so you can make sure you are getting the right ones. The interior handle and the exterior handle are on two seperate mechanisms which is why the inside doesn;t work yet the outside does. Hope this helps. Good Luck. If you need help figuring out How-To remove the door panle, a trip to your local public library in the Automotive books section should help and show you how the panel pulls off. A panel removal tool is a big help and is available at most Auto Stores. You make end up breaking someof the plastic clips that hold the panel in place but they are available at an Auto Store also.
It sounds like the connecting rod popped out of its plastic connector. Pull the door panel off and check both ends of the rod. It must be unhooked at one end or the other.
