Question about 2001 Honda Civic

1 Answer

I have a 2001 honda civic my high beams will not come on in both

Positions flash and constant. The indicator light comes on but both high beams are black. Low beams work fine. Could it be so simple as both high beam portions of the bulbs are burnt out.

Thanks I'll give it a try

Tried the suggested fix by WIZ. We just purchased the car for my daughter last night and on the way home we used the brights and they both were black. Before I took it in I asked if the fix could be just the bulbs. Today I checked to bulbs one was burnt out the other was improperly installed. One of the contacts was bent over and was not making contact. total cost 8.81. WIZ thanks again. It was weird that both brights were acting up. I thought I may be a relay or a fuse but it didn't make sense looking at the manual.

Both bulbs litteraly black is definately burn out.

2 lamp system, both bulbs have a low and high beam element.

4 lamp system, the inside bulbs are high beam only, 1 element

The outside lamps hi and lo.

When you hit the high beams all 4 lamps light up the high beams

When you dim, the inside lamps go out and outside lamps shift to low beam elemen. good luck

All is well then? Good. Fyi- the two outside lamps shpould be 3 prong and the two inside lamps should be 2 prong. Since my daughter is my ace, feel free to ask for advice anytime. -- I'll help if I can.-Ned

Left operating headlight not working

the switch supplies power to the relays that switch on the lights according to the position you have it at
so on high beam there will be 2 high beam lights working
on low beam there will be 2 low beam lights working
back to passing lights or flashing head lights , both beams will work so the switch is the last item to consider
Now with only one side beam not working it comes back to the ground on that light for that bulb
remember that electricity follows the path of least resistance so it the ground is bad the current will ground out through another point including a light which will switch that light off or make it not work
remember the brakes light that flask when an indicator is used --same thing

you'd have to play with it and see if it's related to maybe a stuck fog light or simply the high beam switch is junk

2006 Chevy HHR low beams do not work in auto or on positions. However, low beams flash when locking/unlocking the car using the remote. Also, high beams, parking lights, and turn signals all work fine. All...

Your running lights which come on when you are in drive should be the ones flashing when you use the key FOB to lock or unlock vehicle not your head lights. Although unusual maybe both low beam head lights are burnt out or a bad ground, that the only thing that makes sense to me.

Sounds like a bad switch to me. If it was a relay,it would not work period. Not to mention, the switch controls the dash lights too.
