My 2003 4x4 1/2 ton oil gauge will go to 80 then to 0 when you are driving is it the sending unit? where is the sending unite ta ? bzibert@hotmail.com

you are on the right track, the first thing would be the sending unit, thats the most common reason for this type of problem, the oil sending unit is located on the top rear of the engine , heres a diagram picture to help you this is of a 6.6 engine as there are 5 engines that come in the truck but all have the oil sensor in the same location, have a good day and hope this helps.johnjohn2_77.gif

Low oil pressure

Really only two possibilities if the vehicle is otherwise running properly. Either your oil pump is bad (likely a job for your favorite mechanic) or the oil pressure sending unit is failing (a simple replacement job). I suggest that you replace the sending unit and see if that cures the low pressure reading. You can pick up a new sending unit at just about any parts outlet, and they will likely have a diagram or photo showing the position of the unit in your vehicle.

Diagram for the location of the oil pressure sending unit on a 2006 chevy 6.o l gass

the oil sending unit is in the rear of the motor center right as you face the motor. You almost have to climb up on the motor to see it because it is down on the block. If you remember where the distributor used to be in the rear. The sending unit is just to the right as you face the motor.Good luck.
