SOURCE: fuel pump location and replacement

You are looking for the constant control relay module- ( CCRM ) see below. The pump will be located inside the fuel tank. Most of the time , its the pump and not the relay but, it wouldn't hurt to check the relay out. Teh relay is housed in the CCRM. Its located behind the engine coolant reservoir.

SOURCE: 1990 Ford F-150 Fuel Pump

yes, fuel pump is inside the tank, replace filter first. then i would test the fuel pressure at the rail, 30 -45 psi at idle. also test pressure regulator. replace pump last (its expensive)

SOURCE: 1989 ford f150 loss of power

1989 is fuel injected, on the intake there is idle air control valve, make sure this is not dirty, also you may want to check the coolant temperature sensor, if the engine thinks it is warmer then waht it is the fuel air ratio will be off and your truck will run bad.

SOURCE: I have a 1987 F350

take the shut off valve out of the injector pump and inside the valve is a round metal body with a rubber seal on the end ,check this seal hasnt swollen and stuck ,also check inside the primary fuel filter for any transparant pieces or crystal ,this is a problem i have been getting of late with people putting this bio fuel into the tank ,it causes this crystal stuff and it damages the injector pump as it passes through the filters and solidifies in the injector pump and kills them.just though before you start pulling it apart crack off a couple of injector pipes and get assistant to crank engine throttle wide open and see if its pumping fuel first this will give you some idea what to look for ,leave this answer in your e mail box so you can get back to me later after having a look ,but please remember the time zone difference

Running rough

Most likely it would be the fuel filter. Sometimes debris can get stuck in the filter and clog it up. Letting it sit lets debris settle hence the cold start being fine. I suggest changing the fuel filter. If that does not fix the problem change the pump also. If you are looking for a slim chance but possible cheap fix try putting some fuel injector cleaner through the system. This might fix the problem even if it is the fuel filter but be warned it is a temporary fix and the fuel injector cleaner does leave a gummy substance on the fuel filter and might make your problem worse. So if you choose this route you should change your fuel filter in the not to distant future.

6.0 2004 F-250 was starting hard when cold, replaced glow plugs &harness still starts hard runs rough, glow plug light stays on longer now though

time for replacement of or severe cleaning with fuelinjection cleaner..also if diesel, add cold start to the fuel system..check and replace oil filter type fuel filter since jelling of fuel may be a cold start issue..crack open an injector line and see if injector pump is pushing fuel really well..and see if air cleaner needs replaced blackened element is not good..good luck..

My 1996 chevy blazer won't start. we changed the the fuel pump, fuel pump filter checked the relay and she turns over once we put gas in the carb. body. help please

Have you ever put in the gasoline tank any injector cleaner yet because the cleaner will unclog the injectors so full amounts of gasoline can get into the piston chambers the right amounts so try putting injector cleaner into your gas tank. When you put this into the gas tank to remember that it takes time for the cleaner to get to the injectors so you might have to keep trying to start the vehicle many times for the cleaner to unclog the injectors. This will not hurt your vehicle at all so go try this.

Fuel pump runs &runs and the truck wont start.if i wait long enough it will start but runs bad sometimes.

Have you replaced the fuel filter? It could be clogged, causing the fuel to take longer to get to the injection system. Replace the filter and, and any inline filters if equipped (under hood). If this does not help, consider using an injector cleaner (I recommend Sea Foam) of which you can pick up at a local auto parts dealer. If this does not help either, consider then replacing the fuel pump itself - it's possible it will run, but may not be pumping fuel, or very little fuel - a sign that it's about to go.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Fuel line or fuel filter location. The jeep wants to cut off and does not want to start unless I put the gas to the floor.

Your problem may be the reverse of what you are thinking...Putting it on the floor should add more air and lean it out. You may have a leaking injector. Before cold starting spray some carb cleaner into the throttle body. If it starts right up, then look at fuel pump or filter. If it takes longer to start, then look at injectors and map sensor. Air cleaner element is clean, correct?

HHR LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF. IT STARTED RIGHT BACK BUT WHAT CAUSED IT TO STOP.

Going to keep it simple since it started up again and is running, Chances are the fuel filter has come to the end of it's life and needs to be replaced. After saying this you may get away with filling the gas tank a few times and adding fuel injector cleaner to the gas since the new style fuel pump with the filter is also know as self cleaning filters and is good for life till the electric pump fails it self, which has an average life of 150,000 miles. You can get more life out of the pump if you run more then half a tank of gas always, the gas it self is what keeps the electric pump cool and less gas means hotter running fuel pump.
GM has stopped putting in-line filters in some models since 2004. Other manufacturers have been doing it longer. The fuel sender assembly (pump/regualtor/sock/level sensor) inside the tank has a container on the bottom of it about the size of 1/2 coffee can. All the fuel pick up components are inside of this container. It has a small intake port in the very bottom that filters the bigger debris so that the fuel that is filling the container is fairly clean. The fuel fills the container and a sock(filter) is used at the end of the fuel pumps pick-up tube. Smaller debris that makes it to the sock is then filtered by the sock before entering the fuel pump and simply falls to the bottom of the container.

Todays pumps are much more robust then pumps of old also. We still see more failures of the old style pumps with in-line fuel filters then we do of the newer style. GM calls this a self cleaning system. Any debris that does not go into the canister of the fuel pump assembly falls to the bottom of the tank and any debris that the sock stops falls to the bottom of the canister when the fuel pump is shut off. We are talking very small amounts of debris here too.

Good luck and hope this helps and like mentioned, try running the HHR with more then half a tank of gas and adding fuel injector cleaner for now.

Doesn't start on first turn, by 2nd or 3rd starts. Idles rough.

Battery should be around 12V the alternator puts out 14V. Sounds like a fuel problem, leaking injectors or injector's O-rings. Weak or faulty fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, faulty fuel regulator. Try this, when starting the car while cold. Put the key all the way to the ON position, wait five to ten seconds then crank the car to start. It should start the first time the longer you give it the more fuel pressure there will be to start the car.

Cannot get 1987 chevy van 20 to keep running... stalls out

Best do a fuel pressure test. Should have chg. fuel filter from the get go. The only other filter is on the end of the fuel pump in tank. Bad gas and dirty gas will plug up fuel filter, hense burn pump up.
