Brian Id have more first hand knowledge and repair experience to convey to you if my 2004 Canyon with 132,000 miles had required me to do any thing other than put gas in her, change her oil (every 8,000 miles if shes lucky) and change her brake pads once. Best truck ever... designed tough, built strong, and created by looking back on previous vehicles failings and mastering a solution to be better. . Ouch! Bummer. Why I avoid dealers. Is that the same shop saying "fuel pump"? Surely they would have done a fuel pressure test with a pressure gauge? That would confirm if the pump is bad or not. I'd kind of lean towards the aftermarket sensor. A lot of cars just don't work right except with dealers' OEM parts, especially electronic parts like your CPS. Then again, seems like the dealership would be able to test that with their expensive equipment. (OEM: original equipment manufacture)
All Transmissions get the fluid changed at 30,000 miles
I really am not familliar with Hybrids,but if the Dealer
told you 70,000 miles,you can be rest assured that, that
is at the high end,mileage wise,as they usually tell you
that it never gets changed or changed at 100,000 miles
Both of which most trans fail long before ,along with
steering racks ,because of no fluid changes.
I'm guessing it takes special fluid
There are plenty of web sites to answer all
those questions any way you want.
You may have a case but you would need the old parts and would need an independent shop to verify their condition (in writing). You would also need a written record of what the firestone people told you. You could then either file a complaint with your state DMV or file in small claims court. Otherwise, you have just paid for an important lesson about using "chain" shops instead of a well established honest independent one. Radiator caps do not explode. Only way anything can explode is if the head gasket failed and that would have given you some symptoms long before it reached that point.
You didn't say if it crankes over if it dose check for spark. If you have no spark replace your distriburator modual. Also check for fuel pressure no fuel pressure may need a fuel pump in fuel tank hope this helps CJ
sounds like your fuel pump, normally fuel pumps die gradually not just like that, so best check fule pump fuses first, also i can not remeber if these have a fuel cut off switch, this is normally located arround the fire wall it looks like a red or black rubber button, if you have one you can press that and see if that sorts it, if not then it more than likley is the fuel pump and will possibly need replacing, but check the other things first, better a new fuse than a new pump...hope that helps a bit
At 70,000 miles I would perform the following maintenance if you have not already done so. Have the transmission fluid & filter changed. Replace the fuel filter. Replace the spark plugs and inspect the wires. Replace the wires if they appear cracked or damaged. I am assuming you have done regular items such as oil, air filter changes and inspected the brake system.
