SOURCE: how do you install a shift solenoid on a ford f150

Solenoid or shifting governor. I am aware of a governor on the passenger side of that tranny. It has like a coat hanger type lock over it. It just pulls out once you get the cap off. Let me know if you can't find it.

SOURCE: 2001 Buick Century shift solenoid

It is in the side cover on the valve body. The transmission needs to be removed to access the solenoids.

SOURCE: location of the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor on a 2001 ford escape

B1 means the sensor is located on the same bank of the engine that has the #1 cylinder. B2 is located on the opposite bank.
S1 means the sensor is located BEFORE the catalytic converter
S2 means the sensor is located AFTER the catalytic converter

You didn't say which engine you have, so I've included the diagrams of both 4 cyl and 6 cyl so you can see the banks

There is more than 1 solenoid. Which one are you referring to? Most are located inside the tranny pan on the valve body

What is a detent on a shifter

A detent is a notch or notches in a part used to keep a shifter (in this case) at a certain position. Be that an automatic or stick-shift. You can imply that the shift pattern on a stick-shift has detents for each gear as the shift lever locks and slides in and out of each position for that gear to work when the clutch is released. The detents on an automatic can resemble "steps" which engage a different gear or series of gears(drive) when a certain step is locked into position by a pressure bar or pressure lever.

Sometimes the pressure bar or pressure lever is spring loaded and your hand works against that tension to select a gear or function(drive). There may be an adjustment for the spring tension, or the spring is too weak and the shift assembly must be replaced.

With electronic shift solenoids, some of the shift assembly is different than with the old-style mechanical shifter. The action may be fly by wire with electronic shifts.

I do not know what you have, so there may be differences.

Manual Transmission - 2001 Ford Escape

Hopefully only your linkage, but may also be your throwout bearing going pain to change but with right tools couple hrs work might as well change clutch and pressure plate as well cause that\'s a usual if changing bearing or clutch pressure plate needs to come off. But as I said I\'d check linkage first. Hope this helps

2002 Ford Escape XLT OD light blinking - am told it may be a torque converter cellunoid - only has 80K on it & I bought it new! Any ideas? How expensive is the fix? Would it help to change the...

The Trans fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles or two years.
Changing any fluid on a vehicle is never a fix for anything, just preventative maintenance.
You should have done the Power Steering Fluid, Trans Fluid,Brake Fluid,Etc a couple of times, before getting to 80K.

Also I would hope you changed the spark plugs buy at least 60K.

You may have a TCC Solenoid going bad,but the engages the torque converter clutch.

Is it shifting into OD? Most likely you have a solenoid issue, but need to find out which one. Most fords have a solenoid pack in the trans, with all of them in one unit. Not sure on yours.

The only way it will be expensive, is if you go to a dealer or get pitched some story by a shop, not able to diagnose, what is most likely a simple fix.
