First of all is your air filter clean? If it's plugged it will choke its self to death.

Is your choke stuck on?

Not sure if you have an EGR valve on that model but a bad one will use more gas than it should.

SOURCE: run rough at low speed

Possibly there is to high of a mixture of gasoline going into the cylinder. It might be a computer problem, the dealership/garage with a Tech2 would be able to tell you for sure.

1995 sl saturn cuts out and stalls after flooring gas pedal and after restarting if I do not touch gas pedal it will limp home but if I try to accelerate it will again die

it can be a number of problems would need more info but well go with the most common need to check fuel pressure if low poss cause fuel filter clogging or fuel pump inline clogging the fuel filter is usually the problem with most stall loss of power ---if good while running check the exhaust if it feels like is choking out or low than possible cat converter clogging ---if good than check throttle body my be clogging ir need repair ---if good check egr valve my need cleaning or replacement the egr valve gets clogged with carbon also check or replace air filter these are the few most common problems that can cause a performance problem

I have a 97 merc cougar xr7 4.6 v8 I had a weird vibrating hesitation while accelerating thru the gears. It feels like it's almost running on 7 cylinders. I opened the hood and manually reved the engine...

i've been telling people exhaust leak for their problems all night... and you know what... i think it's an exhaust leak =)

seriously check everything from the block to the manifold and look for anything not connected. If you can smell strong exhaust under the hood as opposed to standing behind the car, or if your air filter get dirty incredibly fast, or if your performance degrades (generally cuz i know cars are touchy and weird) as your foot pushes on the gas (not necessarily higher rpm, but actually burning more gas) particularly when it gets hot, that really might be it.

When accelerating while lightly pushing the gas pedal the engine runs great but when you giv it a little gas the engine sputter and boggs down until you let up a little on the gas then runs fine. need...

their are a few different things that can cause ur problem but usually the main one is the fuel filter others are dirty clogged air filter -partial clogged pcv valve-partial clogged cat converter -carbon build up on egr valve -for the pcv try cleaning with a carb cleaner -same for egr valve clean carbon build up -as for cat converter have some one raise idle while u feel for exhaust if feels weak or sounds like blockage look to see also if glowing bright red this usually shows a clog or partial clog in exhaust system[cat going also if smells like rotten eggs possible cat conv problem] good luck

Dirty airfilter, car will not start

If you took out the filter and it's dirty you can't see light thru it replace it. As far as not starting unless the air filter is now a solid block of dirt it should start, if the engine is fuel injected you must not touch the gas pedal while starting the engine or you will flood it.If it's flooded assuming you replaced the filter. Push the gas pedal to the floor hold it there while starting, after the engine starts remove your foot from the pedal to avoid engine overreving. This should fix the problem. Air filters should be changed every 12 months if you drive in dusty condtitions sooner the better

1993 Chevy S10 Blazer engine hesitation with smoke from exhaust

Had a 94 Olds Bravada that did a similar thing and it was EGR valve on the front of the intake. It' s easy to take off and clean with WD 40 and if you have an air compressor blow it out good.

I have a 96 for taurus. While driving it starts

This is a good indication that the catalytic converter is bad.  Other symptoms include a smelly sulphur like exhaust, a lot of heat coming from the exhaust (in the middle of the car), a lot of smoke from the exhaust.

87 toyota pickup engine wont idle well and exhaust smells gassy

Well if you start your car and its dieing at a stop sign. That usually means you have a bad alternator. Your alternator is wat charges the battery when the car is on, and the more you eccelerate the car, the faster the belt spends on the alternator and the more juice is pumped to the battery. So I would have your alternator checked out. Im pretty sure thats why your stopping at stop signs. As far as the smoke and the smells gassy. You have t remember its an older carborated truck, so its going to smoke out of the exaust and its going to run a little rich, which is why your smelling gas. Now you much determine if its smoking to much and your smelling to much gas. Try having a tune up done on the truck. Spark plugs, oil change, air filter change and if your still having those issues take it to a muffler shop and have them check the catalic converter
