SOURCE: how to replace a coolant level sensor, 2000 buick century

The coolant level sensor is located on the radiator. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car it will be on the left side. There will some kind of clip holding it in the radiator. Removed the clip and pull the sensor out. You will lose coolant so try to swap it out quick or drain some of the coolant out. Once new sensor is installed, install clip to keep the sensor in place and reconnect the wires to the sensor. Crank the engine and make sure the coolant level is full. This should correct your problem.

SOURCE: security light on 2002 Buick Century

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Remember too, the TDM controls the security light. Sometimes you can have ALL the symptoms and no lights.

SOURCE: 1995 buick century, interior lights& tail lights not woring

For future viewers of this post, check the harness in the lip of your trunk, it is held in by a retainer that was clipped together without leaving enough slack in the wires. They came this way from the factory, and it is an extremely common problem with late 90's - early 2000's Centuries. What happens is because there is not enough slack provided to the wires (which are being pushed and pulled everytime you open your trunk), and therefore some of the rubber coating tears wears off, most commonly on the thick brown wires and the ground. Check all wires in that area of the harness for corrosion.

My interior lights in my buick century 2000 are not working.how can I check if it needs a new fuse and if it does how do I replace it? Thanks

If the lights stay off, don't go on and off randomly, and include ceiling, glove box and door lights, it is most likely a fuse. These are located behind a plastic panel on the body that can be accessed when you open the front passenger door. The fuse descriptions should be on the inside of the panel. (There is a second fuse box under the hood inside a black box with a red handle and screw hold down). Find the appropriate fuse (interior lights or something like that) and using a fuse puller (little plastic tweezer device that grabs the fuse and makes it easy to remove) pull the fuse and hold it up to the light. If the metal strip inside is broken, melted or blackened, you need a new one of the same amp rating. There may be some extra ones on the panel, but never use a fuse with a higher rating number than the original fuse.

Your interior lights fuse is powered by the tail/park lamp fuse, that way you know when your parking lamps are not working. Your interior lights probably went at the same time, but you noticed them first. Most likely, you have a blown park/tail lamp fuse. Check the fuse first, replace it if it's open. If it blows again, you have a short in the park lamp circuit.

Tail lights wont come on

two places left drivers side under the dash are on the side of the dash by the door for the interior, some cars have them on the right side of the dash also. There is also another fuse box under the hood. If you have your owners manual this is all listed in it, and the exact fuse location for your breaklights, I think your will be on the drivers side interior Hope this helps you! Merry Christmas and God Bless!
