Speed sensor cavalier po717

Not sure which sensor that is. Code 717 is for a turbine input sensor which could be the torque converter or the turbine inside the transmission. Either one could be considered input.
You would need a shop manual to get the test procedures for that circuit.

I have a standard transmission 1998 cavalier....it keeps shutting off when it gets to hot...yet the temp gauge doesnt go past the middle?

What you are experiencing is a cam, or crankshaft sensor that is going out, probably the crankshaft sensor. Replace it and you should be fine.

How do you fix a transmission on a 1998 Plymouth Voyager? When shifting down the transmission bumps then when you start it won't change out of first gear. I have added transmission fluid to several times

The most common fault with these electonic transmissions is the input speed sensor usually fails causing all sorts of erratic behaviour i suggest replacing it first they are only about $50

1990 cavalier, my problem is my car starts and runs fine but dies as soon as i put it in gear. but it will run all day in park or neutral.

open the hood, on the side of the transmission is a blue plug, unplug it and try it again, if this fixes it the lockup converter solenoid in the transmission is messed up.

My engine light waxs coming on in my car when i got it cheaked they said it was the cooling sensor. but when my car changes gears it jumps reAlly bad like the transmission is bad

try to change to cooling sensor because it helps with the cooling of the transmission fluid or you could try Lucas Transmission slip it has helped me a lot with my transmission or it could be just a cooling problem

98 Cavalier 2.4L engine stumbles at 2000-2500 rpm

Could be a short in the wiring for the O2 sensor.   I currently have the same issue only my car finally threw a code after two days of it acting up.  Code 106.  Changed the MAP sensor and it now throws 108, MAP sensor high voltage circuit.  Ah the joys of cold weather and broke down vehicles.  But I know that you wont always get a code with a short.  Let me know if you fixed the problem.

Chevy cavalier 2005 speedometer stuck not working

If your odometer is working and your speedo needle doesnt indicate correctly then your problem is the stepper motor in the cluster. I have repaired a lot of instrument clusters....cost is 105.00
