Water leak from AC-blower motor

The air-conditioning-blower motor in my 1999 Corvette leaks water when the AC is on.

The condensed water in the blower motor leaks on the floor mat, however. Should not there be a path for the water to drain to the outside of the car? Or, is the large rubber seal around the motor intended to keep the water from leaking out?

The squirrel-cage blower/motor assembly collects condensed water in the squirrel cage, as well as inside the lower motor housing, which appears to be abnormal. Normally, we don't mix water and electrical components! Is there supposed to be a water-tight seal between the upper and lower assemblies? Is the likely solution a new blower/motor assembly? Another strange feature is a short rubber hose about 5/8th-inch diameter that connects the upper assembly with the motor housing and that blows air through a hole into the metal motor assembly.

If you go under the car on the passenger side bottom of engine firewall u will find a water condensation drain, (the condensate is from the evaporator core inside the dash) they get plugged and and water builds up in the heater blower case, u must put this car in the air to see this drain, it is a about 1/2" diameter tube, very short about 3/4" long. I know this is a correct location because I have a Corvette that had the same problem.

Check the drain hose if still in place. Then the cooling coil may be dirty, clean it so the air can pass freely.

It is supposed to do that when the AC is on as the condensation that builds up from the air being cooled drips out. It is like the AC on a house that has the pipe next to it. The water dripping from it is the condensation build up from the freon quickly cooling the air which causes the condensation which has to drip from somewhere. So there is nothing wrong with your blower motor from the AC being on.

sounds like a dodgy heater element. there is a small heater radiator located inside your blower right next to your air conditioning radiator. check that and any hoses around it for leaks and damage.

You have a leak in your air conditioning compressor Your system works on the reheat principle All air passing through the system is cooled and reheated before it enters the cabin this sould be dehumidified air but it passes through the heater core and sence the air is not dehumidified you are getting condansation as the air flows the heater core that is heated by the engine heat and the water is from condencation because of the leak in the ac compressor The unit is a press fit in the center of it and fials unfortinatly a lot with this disgien of compressor

Water leaking in blower motor

pull the plastic grate cover off the cowl at heater AC outside air intake at the base of the windshield and check to see that the cowl drains are not plugged with leafs or other debris, this is the common cause, if the drains are clear seal around the cowl air intake with automotive silicone caulking.

Air condition sometime don't work.

If you have to hit blower motor to get it to work its probably a bad blower motor....They get water in them a times causing the brushes to rust thus making it difficult to start. Also the motor wil have a kinda grumble noise. Also look in the housing where it sits and make sure its not all wet. If it is, find the leak (probably in cowl area) before u put new one in or you will be replacing it again soon. You can find the leak easy if there is one. Have someone run a water hose on it while you look under there....
