Bring vehicle in and have transmission fluid and filter changed. Also have transmission bands adjusted.

hi if its just second to thrid then the clutch is slipping on thrid gear look at the boxes oil level is important but look at the colour is it red and tranperant as this is ok if its brown its a sign of the clutches slipping i would try a stall test on thrid gear first and if its ok second gear [manually] see is the engine stalls at the correct rpm if you thinkabout it imagine you are in thrid gear in a manuual box and suddenly drop into second it would be hard shifting it could also be a faulty thrid gear solenoid yates210456

SOURCE: hard up and down-shifting into 2nd gear - manual transmission

I have a Focus that had shifting problems. I tried different fluids, but eventually I tried Royal Purple Synchromax (I believe) and it actually shifts fairly well now. I used to hate the car for this. It has 130k miles and I like driving it now.

SOURCE: Car shifts hard (up & down), especially shifting to reverse.

that delayed reaction may be the transmission slipping. with those many miles it could be the transmission going bad

Power loss in range rover p38 4.6 lt when going up hill

the p38 is a bit sluggish and slow on long steep hills, really not geared for performance but more as a piece of heavy equipment. strong horsepower wise very formidable powertrain but you're not going to have that get up and go that many drivers look for. couple quick suggestions you may want to check your plugs and wires a common weak spot in the ignition system, and i might suggest also running i can of seafoam through your engine. you deposit in your gas tank runs through with the half a tank of gas. i'm not a big advocate of fuel additives or octane boosters but in the case of seafoam it's definitely a worthwhile and proven product. don't forget also your sport mode button down next to your shift lever push that button down and it keeps your transmission from overdrive so you can accelerate into freeway traffic and climb hills without your transmission shifting

VW 2013 Golf Automatic stays in 1st gear when driving uphill. Have to pull over after hill, stop, park and then go for engine to autocorrect. VW service center mechanic says this is how it's supposed to be...

There is no problem with the revs going to 3 or 6. The revs need to climb so you have enough power to climb the hill (if the car upshifts under heavy load it may stall). But are you saying that the only way you can get it to shift out of first is to turn off the car? if so, then that is obviously not supposed to happen. It should shift shortly after you start driving down hill.

Loss of power when going up

in the first place you must change the filter and the transmission oil in your automatic gear box , if the problem persists and your gear box shift not the gear for climbing hills it is a tehnycal problem with your gear box , but in my opinion ( i had a similar problem with my car ) this is the only problem. God help You ! Sorry for my English !
