The video below will help you out. Please note that the corner are clipped so you need to make sure that you get something flat like screw driver or anything like that. I don't suggest using a sharp object.

About once a day it puts out an audible "alert" but it sounds nice, like chimes, not like a warning, more like a lullaby. What is that?

if you have an electronic key (proximity key with push button ignition, or the key that is just a plastic stick that goes into a slot to turn) the chimes could be a notification that the car is detecting a low battery in your key. I'm not very familiar with Infinity but there are several cars with these types of keys that give some kind of chime or light indication when the electronic key battery is getting low... If you have one of these keys it would be a good idea to have the battery checked/changed just to be sure, if the battery dies or gets too low the car wont start.

Won't start

Hi Delaine,

Unfortunately, you're among many others experiencing the same phenomena. You can search many forums covering GM vehicles and will find this occurring. I too have the same thing in a Cadillac Escalade.

To diagnose, you would need some very specific knowledge or vehicle data if your to enlist an online advisor. I am not a mechanic, but I can share with you what I have looked into and done to address my own situation.

Starting with the battery is an obvious place - test to ensure it holds 13+ volts, and when loaded (starting the vehicle) the voltage shouldn't fall below 9.6 volts --- if it does, the battery needs replacing. Given your vehicle will eventually start, it isn't likely the battery. I then checked the mega fuse for any corrosion or lose connections --- all fine. You need to then test the power going to your starter solenoid to ensure it is the same as the battery. Test also the power the solenoid itself puts out (small wire) when actually starting the vehicle.

I found the solenoid wire to be scorched from it's proximity to the exhaust manifold. I replaced that segment of the wire with the idea it may be shorting out. I don't think so as the integrity of the wire was still good. This left me with the starter -- I decided to change it out as too often I am on a ski hill, and if it didn't start there, I would be in a serious jam. I have only just done this, so cannot tell you if it works to resolve the issue. Time will tell.

Youtube starter testing link attached.

I have also seen people speak about the anti-theft system - particularly the keys. Vehicle not recognizing the key, so not turning over the vehicle. If I still have the problem, this is where I will go next.

Good luck.

How do i fix the body control module if the key is not detected

Probably a GM car. Most cases it is not the BCM but the ignition key-way and switch itself. BCM are the go between the message received from the passkey and the message it sends to the PCM to start the vehicle. 9 times out of ten You need a new ignition key switch... Best left to professional as reprogramming may be in order when you replace the switch. BCMs are very expensive.

New Dodge Journey 2011 Where would the key enclosed in keyfob fit to start the vehicle if remote not working?

I just changed the battery in my fob for 2011 Journey Crew, with the battery removed ( from fob ) I did start my car by pushing the start button whith my fob... so the theory is tested and true.... also the battery you'll need is CR2032 available everywhere... and removing the battery will NOT remove the programming of your fob ( also tested )... so no need to visit the "steelership" Hope this helps....

2001 Sebring won't start

I had same problem when I had a plain copy of the key made.
There's a proximity chip in the factory key or something, but the plain copy would not work. Engine would crank, then immediately stop. I didn't need the extra key bad enough to spend $80+ at the dealership.

I can't start the car

The rear hatch has a proximity sensor that senses your "smart key". If any sensor is disconnected, the auto-unlock/lock feature AND the push button start feature will not work. My guess is that the proximity sensor in the hatch got disconnected.
