Located in the front of the engine cover.
you can see the sensors (smaller nubs) on either side. You will have to remove the power steering reservoirand the ecm. No need to disconnect just remove the bracket boltsand pull to the side.

SOURCE: I have a Cadillac CTS

I too have the 2004 CTS.
Just today, my dealership checked my transmission fluid level because I have gear noise.

There is NO dipstick!

The car is put up on the hoist with motor running and transmission in neutral.
There is a fill / level check plug located on drivers side of transmission through which the level is checked.

Where is the knock sensor located on a 2004 Cadillac srx v6 engine 3.6L

No sir, on the ly7 HFV6 3.6l in the 04-09 srx and cts the knock sensors are located on the sides of the engine block. Bank 1 and two are visible fringe wheel well. Not to hard to get to with a 3/8 drive 13mm socket, universal joint, and short extension. I would also check the connector with a multi meter while doing this job to ensure you have a good connection and harness is not damaged. Best of luck!

Location on 2008 Cadillac sts for the crankshaft sensor

Here is the sensor location on the 2005 STS. My understanding is that on the 2005 it sat over the exhaust cam sprocket and on the 2006 it sits over the intake cam sprocket. That should be no problem as there will only be one to locate on your 2008.
