The cooling fan Motor relay is located above the passenger front tire housing. hard to get to, I replaced mine by taking out the headlamp and cutting through the plastic shield.

Should be located in the thermostat housing. It is a resistor type sensor which sends a signal to the PCM. The PCM then turns the fan relay on and off. Check your #10 fuse first. Second make sure the thermostat is opening. Run the engine and fell the radiator hoses when it get to temp and make sure both hoses get hot. Lack of coolant circulation can cause your problem.

Start by checking the fuse ant relay under the hood as far as a sensor it should be on or next to the thermostat

This is covered 100% in the FSM.
but first youd have to be on the right engine page, and was not stated by you.
4L or 4.7L ?
you could read all this for free., (posted 100 times)
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

the schematic is 8w-42 (chapter 8w is electrics)
see "wiring AIR-------" page
page 9 .
42-9 4.0L only.
you see what.? a fuse F10 (blown)
you see the fan controller
and the fan relay
and the fan.
and THE PCM
the PCM decide when the fan is on, or off.
so..... if the thermostat is stuck open, the ECT shows, low heat
and the fan never turns on.
so did you do the FSM fan test? in the book.?
it shows how to do that. it has you overheat the engine on purpose
(idling it too long)

the 4.7L is totally different so, no engine stated, all answer will be wrong.

I have a 2014 Ford Fiesta I replace the engine cooling fan with a new one but I can't get the fan to come on what is my solution

first check your fuse this should always be the first thing you check no matter what before you spend$$$$ if the fuse is good locate the cooling fan electrical plug create a jumper wire and connect it to the positive wire and see if the fan comes on if it does that's good if it doesn't the new motor is n/g now after we have confirmed that the fan motor does indeed work you must drain the radiator and remove the coolant temperature sensor this acts as the switch to turn on the fan motor when the bimetal elements touch each other inside at the right temperature this completes the circuit and turns on the fan motor reverse removal fill the radiator and let run to check for leaks and that the fan now comes on

Radiator fan wont shut off on 2003 cavalier 2.2 ecotec

Follow the wiring from the fan motor it should lead you to the heat sensor that is located on your radiator, this sensor swithch as possibly stuck in the closed circuit position that's wye your fan is running constantly as this switch completes the power supply to the fan you can pull the spade clip of the sensor to stop the fan until you get a new switch sensor.
Good luck

Engine overheating 1997 buick park avenue

Hi, heard this a few times. First make sure you fans are coming on if there electrical. If they are electrical, by turning on your air conditioner usually turns on your fans automatically. There is a sensor/coolant temp sensor that tells the fans when to turn on and off by sensing the temp of the water in your radiator. some are located on the radiator. Unplug the sensor and unscrew it. Put the new one in and tighten it down put the plug back on and if that was the problem you should be good to go. PS could also be right by the large hose at the top of your radiator where it goes into the motor. either way when you remove the sensor make sure the engine is cool and the anti freeze is going to leak out so move quick.

Motor over heating and fans not turning on

check coolant level is up to the mark, then locate radiator temp sensor switch ( on the radiator ) and check connections, you can by pass the switch in the wiring plug to ensure the fans work, if fans operate the radiator sensor switches are probably at fault and will require renewal

What Switch or control makes the radiater fan come on? and need the diagram for the radiator control switch, 1993 saturn sl2.

Ok. The way your system is set up,you have a fan switch located in the engine block, usually near the top. That fan swtich sends the voltage to the fan motor or to a fan relay then to the motor. You can jump the fan motor directly to make sure the motor itself is not burned out by unplugging the motor and running a jumper wire from your battery pos terminal to the terminals on the fan motor itself..If you have checked the motor and it does work, then the easiest thing to do is simply replace the fan switch. You should have a Coolant temp switch and a radiator fan switch and possibly and Radiator fan relay.I would try the radiator switch first, then replace the relay. The coolant temp sensor is for the computer and usually doesnt tie into the radiator fan switch.try that and repost.Good luck

Not sure if radiator fans are working, car overheating. which fuse do I check?

LOOK UNDER THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. ON DRIVER SIDE FOR FUSE BOX.LOOK ON FUSE BOX COVER IT HAS LOCATION FOR FUSES AND RELAYS.MOST TIME PROBLEM WITH COOLING FAN CIRCUIT WILL CAUSE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.BAD ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR WILL CAUSE COOLANT FANS NOT TO TURN CAUSE OVERHEATING. ON.REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP SEE IF STOP OVER HEATING. IF ALL LOOKS GOOD HOTWIRE COOLANT FANS MAKE SURE FAN MOTORS ARE GOOD AND NO SHORTS AT FAN CONNECTOR WIRES.

Cooling fan wount turn on

The temperature sensor instructs the computer to turn on the fan which tells a relay to turn on and it turns on the fan. The fan circuit also has a fuse that may be blown. The relay could be faulty. The coolant sensor may be faulty, but it also tells the computer to display the current engine temperature. If that seems to be working properly, then the sensor is probably ok. You say the fan sounds like it is running--have you looked at the fan motor while the sound occurs? The motor shaft may be turning inside the fan hub! If so, replace the fan blade--not the motor. Check with a wrecking yard for the part.

follow the wires coming off the fan they will lead you to the relay from that the relay will run to the temp sensor which trips the relay for the fan

Coolig fans dont run

the cooling fans are run by a relay it's located in the junction box. check this. there is also a thermoatic sensor located near the fans next to radiator. the fans should free spin when the engine is off this is a good indiacator that it's not the fan themselves. if the relay checks out(run engine and switch the fan relay with the a/c clutch relay when the engine reaches 180 degrees you will feel the upper radiator hose get hot the fans will turn on a short time later iof they don't it's the temp sensor near the radiator if they do it's a bad relay...please rate this thanks
