It could be any number of radiator hoses, coolant reservoir bottle, thermostat/thermostat housing ect. These pieces are all made of plastic and have a tendancy of developing slow leaks that may or may not only be seen when under pressure (car is running). Your best bet is going to be to replace all of these coolant componants because if one goes, the others probably arent far behind.

There are other things to test before we have the engine spread all over the yard. Cooling fan operation. Yes the thermostat hot air in heater just means hot water. start with a cold engine then start and run at a high idle if heats quickly upper radiator hose hot lower cold good but reverse no flow. remove and test thermostat (not replace) put on stove boil water and watch it open once center piece is moving check with thermometer it should agree with stamp number on thermostat. if good check for slipping fan belt. check for air restrictions on radiator and water flow.

RADIATOR FAN NOT KICKING IN

You do not need a thermostat for the fan to work but you will need a thermostat for the engine not to over heat. Put simply the thermostat controls the flow of water through the radiator cores so that the heat in the water has a chance to transfer to the cores and fins and away.. NO thermostat =too fast water flow = hot engine.. Fans work off a temperature sensor which tells the CPU when to activate the relay to switch on the fan. Check out the circuit for the fan including the sensor ,fuses, relays and wiring, and fan . Fix it properly so that you can enjoy driving

My car running hot in blows cold air out of blower already replace thermostat and radiator relay switch for the fan

You may not be getting enough coolant to flow through you heater core. I worked on a car once where the core was badly calcified due to the owned using tap water as opposed to distilled water.

I just replaced my water pump and my car runs hot, right now there is no thermostat in the car and it still runs hot, what could be the problem

I bet it does run hot, a thermostat has two functions, to bring the coolant to operating temp and to regulate the flow of coolant thru the system, If the coolant runs to fast thru the radiator it will not be cool enough, engine will over heat, check that the fans are working, have you flushed the radiator, is the radiator flowing?

2002 Jetta 1.8T blew 40A cooling fan fuse - overheated, destroyed 4 way cooling hose connector - replaced all- now it still runs very hot, inside temp reads 190 (but temp is much higher), cooling fans run...

Then replace the thermostat, because if on lower hose not hot and on upper hose scalding hot = antifreeze flow blocked by the thermostat wich remains closed!!!

Thermostat replacing:

try buying a new cap for the over-flow tank. if your car is running hot check the thermostat, fluid mixture and your fans.

Electric fans do not work do you have any ideas my car runs very hot fans never seem to come on

Electric radiator fans? Just a guess but it could be the water thermostat. They are very inexpensive but you may have to drain and refill the radiator. If the water will not flow though the radiator it will not cool the engine. This is the function of the thermostat which is inline to the water pump and allows the engine to warm up before cooling through the radiator then when the fan thermostat on the radiator heats up the electric fans will run. You might be able to squeeze the upper radiator hose to feel if pressure is building up or water is flowing.
