Question about 1992 Chevrolet Camaro
Engine V8 automatic,
The knock sensor is on the passenger side of the engine, down below the exhaust manifold, and threads into the water jacket. Use the proper sized socket to remove. You may lose some coolant, so either drain some coolant first, or be quick getting the new one into the block. Not too hard to replace. It is about the size of a silver dollar and silver in color.

A knock is not good. Does it change when you put the car in gear? Is it loud enough to hear at idle? If it changes in gear then it is a possible cracked flywheel. If not you can idle the car pull the plug wires 1 at a time to see which one changes the sound. This will tell you which cyl has the problem. If it changes pulling the wires then it is an internal engine problem, get ready to spend some money, sorry. Good Luck.

Look on the passengers side of the engine, between the head, and the oil pan.If it is missing, there will be a threaded hole for it to screw into, unless a different engine has been put in the car.If so,find the wire(green)and route it to the new knock sensor you will have to purchase, and mount it with a nut, threw the hole on the alternator bracket. This sensor has to be grounded. If it has no know knock sensor,it is suposed to,and if it is not there, find the wire and install it.You will not beleive the difference in the engine performance. If I can help let me know.Ron.>>email@example.com
