Question about 1989 Chevrolet C2500

1989 chevy truck stopped running

Ok. here goes..driving at 40 mph...truck shuts off. Have Holly 2-bbl on the v8 motor {350). Have gas coming into throddle body, but injectors not allowing gas to flow. Test spark from coil to distributor and #1 plug to plug wire. Also, checked ignition coil. All have spark. Motor will run with starting fluid. Tore carberator apart. Injector is clear. Told it was the computer. Spent $50 on used computer from junkyard. Truck ran rough for about 5 minutes. Now, injectors will not let gas go in to the bowls. Also, when taking positive terminal off battery terminal is very hot and battery is dead. What the hell is going on?

SOURCE: 1997 chevy truck running rough

Is this a 5.7? They are notorious for intake manifold gasket leaks. When mine did it, the diagnostics blamed it on an ignition misfire also! Replaced the gaskets and it runs smooth!

Hi, I believe there is a computer problem. If possible check codes for no start condition. if you know the no.#1 cylinder at TDC (Top Dead Center) on engine then you will know no#1 distributor is. Good luck.

How to install 350 chevy frame mounts in a 1985 chevy impala

The 1985 Impala came standard with the Chevrolet 305 V8. All Chevrolet small block V8's from 265 cubic inches to 400 cubic inches from 1957 to about 1989 used the same block with almost no difference in the castings, so the motor mounts should fit from one block to the next. If you are trying to swap in a 350 newer than 1989, then the motor mounts are different, and you will have to have them fabricated by a local welder, machine shop, or perhaps the best, a local short-track race car driver/builder. Those guys can build anything.

1989 Chevy Truck , Stock Radio , Whining noise thru the speakers seems to increase with enginge speed. Radio Grounded ? or ?

Sounds like you have a capacitor problem. It could be a number of issues , but i suggest you check the alternator one first.

If you unplug the power cable to the back of the alternator and the whining goes away then replace the capacitor(usually only one bolt/screw)and you should be OK.

If not I sometimes have dissconnected the + wire from the HT coil when the car is running and the same applies, and if this works replace the capacitor or fit one if there isn't.

If none of this helps fit one to the + wires of your radio.

Please leave fair comment if I have helped you.

Thank you

Carberator problem - holly carb on chevy 350 motor

You are correct, there is a float inside a holley 4 barrel fuel bowl.
Is the electric fuel pump regulated? If the fuel pressure is above 8 lbs, you could run into this issue or the float / needle / seat could have a problem or miss adjusted.

By the way, a 2007 GMC is not carbureted so I assume this is not the vehicle or it has been modified.

Good luck.
