How do I adjust the clutch rod for travel/play?


most modern cars do not have an adjustment on the clutch slave cylinder push rod
it relies on the system being in good condition and the fingers of the pressure plate push the throw out bearing back and that pushes the slave cylinder back in far enough
If the push rod is under tension then there is a problem in the compensating port of the clutch master cylinder and the fix for that is a new master cylinder.

How to adjust the clutch in a 1979 stock v8 Mustang for speed 302


check the push rod coming out of the slave cylinder and see if there is a threaded section of bolt into the 1/2 ball at the clutch throw out arm. If it is a one piece rod with no thread then there is no adjustment. With this application if there is a problem indicated by a slipping clutch or the pedal has to come well off the floor before engaging, the cheapest fix is to replace the clutch master cylinder as the compensating port is normally the culprit. If it is adjustable then the adjustment is with the rod pushed fully into the slave cylinder there should be about 1/2 inch between the clutch throw out arm and the 1/2 ball Worst case if you have this adjustment and the slave cylinder piston will readily return fully into the cylinder then you will have to consider the clutch

Why would the bottom blow out of a six month old slave cylinder from a Toyota land cruiser


The only end that can blow on a slave cylinder is the push rod end and a sudden loss of fluid means that the rubber cup in side has failed or the push rod has been pushed out of the cylinder . Replace it with a new one

I have a1996 toyota tacoma,when pushing in the clutch at a stop light it made a grabbing sound and was hard to get in gear .By the time I got home I could not get it in gear at all.when egines not running...


YOU NEED TO AJUST THE CLUTCH BLEED AND AJUST MASTER CYLINDER FIRST SAME PROCEDURE AS BLEEDING THE BRAKES FILL THE RESIVOUR ON THE MASTER CYLINDER PUT THE LID ON HAVE SOMEONE PUMP THE CLUTCH CRACK OPEN THE BLEEDER VALVE DO THIS SEVERAL TIMES TO SEE IF THE CLUTCH WILL STIFFIN UP ENOUGH TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE SO THE SLAVE CYLINDER WORK`S RIGHT;,IF THAT DO`SNT HELP DO THIS AJUST THE SLAVE CYLINDER FIRST IT IS DOWN ON THE TRANSMISSION IT PUSHES THE ARM ATTACHED TO THE THROUGH OUT BEARING IF THERE IS NO AJUSTMENT LEFT PUT A 7/16 - 1/2 INCH NUT BETWEEN SLAVE CYLINDER PUSH ROD AND THE THROUGH OUT BEARING PUSH ROD ARM I HAVE DONE THIS AND GOT BY FOR YEARS IF NOT YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE AND THROUGH OUT BEARING ITS JUST GOING TO BUY YOU 10-20,000 MORE MILES ACCORDING TO HOW HARD YOU DRIVE IT DUMPPING THE CLUCTH WILL KILL IT! I have a 97 jeep wrangler. the slave cylinder came apart. the push rod came right out of the cylinder. does this mean my clutch is warn causing the rod to exceed out of the cylinder?


Hello, the answer is not necessarily, you have some other problem, was the bolts that hold the slave cylinder in place still intact, if yes than it is more than likely that the fork that the slave cylinder rod sits against (goes into the gearbox) is either worn, bent or broken or even the slave cylinder rod itself (unlikely). That fork pushes a bearing (thrust bearing) against the pressure plate in the front of your gearbox which engages and disengages your clutch plate, if that thrust bearing has come off by wear on the fork than it is also possible.

How to bleed the clutch on a saturn 97


one way to bleed it is by pulling the piston like slave cylinder with the rod out of the transmission and by pushing the rod into the slave cylinder several times, make sure you have plenty of dot3 brake fluid in the clutch master slave before you do this. by pushing the rod into the slave cylinder it acts like doing a brake job it bleeds the air out into the clutch master slave cylinder and sucks in the break fluid getting rid of all air in the system. thats the only way to bleed those systems seeing as they are sealed systems

How to install a clutch?


the mechanic should place or connect the clutch pedal spring to the clutch pedal .connect the push rod to the clutch pedal.then connect the push rod to the clutch master cylinder then refill the clutch master cylinder .by means of pressure tube connect the clutch slave cylinder .then connect the clutch slave cylinder to the push rod .And the push rod connect it to the clutch pork. the clutch pork connect to the spring. then connect the fly wheel , the clutch linning ,the clutch disk ,the release bearing,then the clutch pork to the transmission shaft . then connect the transmission assembly.And you can goon with your date.

After replacing starter and removing slave cylinder, clutch fails to work


sounds like you have a air pocket or you fail to engage the slave cylinder push rod If you disconnected the slave cylinder from the hose proceed to bleed out the slave cylinder if you didn't take you slave cylinder and whit out disconnecting the hose and make sure the push rod is against the clutch push arm.
