Question about 1990 Chevrolet C1500

My '90chevy C1500 turns over but won't fire.

My '90chevy C1500 pick-up turns over but won't fire. my mother was driving at the time,so i don't know EXACTLY how it happened...but a few hundred feet from the driveway the '90 silverado died.(it's a 2WD C1500 Camper Special) it turns over but doesn't fire.(it's fuel injected) it seems to be starved of fuel.please give me some tips to trouble-shoot the fuel system. i have basic mechanical knowledge, but limited to older cars...not fuel injection.but have common sense(which i've found isn't all that common).should i pour alittle gas in the carb and try to start it? or remove the canister(i assume it's the filter) from inside the frame and see if it's clogged? do i blow through it or won't that help? where do i listen for the hum of the fuel pump? any guidance from someone who's been there would be greatly appreciated! thank you! Hmm, first check the fuse for the fuel pump, then check to see if you have power to the relay, then back at the fuel pump. Turn the key on, see if ya hear a short humm or buzz when ya cycle the key on and off, sometimes you can hear it better with the gas tank cap off. More than likely its the fuel pump in the tank, very common

Hey Jeff, hmm, if I remember right, the relays are on the firewall. it is a black square box an inch and a half square. I have had a liitle luck getting someone home by tapping on the gas tank with a two by four, it seems to jar the pump enough to get it spinning again, but it is still bad and needs replaced, the tapping just makes it make contact again for awhile. The Bosch relays are much better than the pumps, my moneys on the pump!

Make sure the injectors are metering. They are fired off of the pick up in the bottom of the distributor.

When the key switch is off and the engine is not running, do you have power to the coil ? Could be a problem with the key switch.

1993 gmc 1500 350cid - engine turns over but will not start. Fuel is good

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
If it's not turning over then the problem will be on the firing. If there's no current to the plugs, the engine won't fire up. Few things to look at to resolve the issue... First, the ignition coil can be faulty. Second, The ignition switch can be faulty. Third will be the starter. If it's faulty, it won't kick the flywheel. One good reason why it won't turn over.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Engine firing timing set getting fuel but wont run. pick-up coil?

If it is firing, and trying to hit,and popping and backfire some,or just is trying but not starting up and running, the pick up coil is most likely the problem. This year had a problem with the pick up coil after they got a few miles on them, make sure everything else is good.

I am installing a steering wheel on a 1991 chevy silverado pick up and I need the torque specs

mcdevito75 here, I really don"t know, even if there are manufacturers torque specs. I myself just make the nut very tight, remember the steering wheel goes onto the steering shaft which is tapered.

Need firing order for 1977 454 chevy pick up

GM only has one V8 firing order as far as I know. That is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The distributor runs clockwise and #1 should be at 5 o'clock. Hope this helps.

I need to set timing on a c1500 1993 4.3

If it is the same as the 4.3 in my 93 s-10 blazer the firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6 with 1 being front dead center of ditributor(closest to intake manifold) if it is located at rear of engine. As you're standing in front of vehicle facing engine front right cylinder is #1 middle is #3 rear is #5. On left side #2 is front #4 is middle and #6 is rear. On my Blazer I have to disconnect the EST wire which is located inside the vehicle just below heater housing on passenger side(at top of floor carpet) in order to set timing. It is a single wire connection. Don't know if it is same location in the 1500. There should be a lable on top of the radiator area with the degree to set timing at. It is 0* for the s-10. If you have a parts store handy and have a few dollars available pick up a Chiltons soft cover repair manual for you vehicle. I got one for mine and it has been really useful. Hope all of this is helpful. I'll check to see if you get it set. KS
