Sounds like you need a new clutch, engine is delivering power
but it is not being transmitted to road wheels, typical worn clutch

SOURCE: what causes the malfunction indicator lamp to comes on honda accord 2001?what can i do to correct it?

It could be anything at all that is electrical or sensor-related in nature. Your car is an OBD2 car (for emissions), and it's a very strictly-controlled system. As a result, pretty much anything that fails will cause the light to come on and will store a code in the computer. Go to AutoZone and ask them to scan your computer for codes - they'll do it for free, where a dealer will hit you for up to an hour's labor. They'll tell you the fault codes, which will point you in the right direction for the fix. Get the codes that come out of the scan and post them as a reply here and we can go from there.

SOURCE: 1998 Honda Accord stalls intermittently

There was a recall related to this a few years ago. I know because my engine began shutting off on the interstate and other driving situations. You may be able to search for the recall or just take it in to a Honda dealership and tell them that you received a recall notice related to your ignition switch a while back and your car has been stalling out while driving. I believe a replacement of the ignition switch will fix your problem. I haven't had any problems since. The dealership shouldn't charge you anything for the repair.

Where are the transmission shift solenoids on a 1999 honda accord

Hey Barry, I included an image of tranny, some are external but some are internal , even I rearly test my own tranny solenoid due to the complexity and the chance of getting it wrong , there are a lot of tranny shops that will scan your tranny FREE and give you a report . buyer beware ! make sure the shop is of a high reputation.

work the gears from park to low a few times, sounds like you have air or bubbles in the system, did you happen to change the tranny filter when you changed the gasket ?

I have a 91 honda accord ex when cold it works fine its only when it warms up it feels like the tranny is slipping and needs high rpms to get it to go in any forward gears reverse works fine all the time...

Try haveing the transmission filter and fluid replaced. most shops do not want to do this. I may solve your problem. If you take it to a shop make sure you can watch this being shops will not change the filter others add water to make the trans worse. If their on the up and up it may solve your problem

Change transmission fluid

There isn't one... LOL!! You have to take the hoses loose from the top of the tranny and literally pump new in and old out. I finally got bent out of shape one day and took mine to a shop. They didn't charge me much to do it either. Also, my 98 Honda has approx 235K miles on it. Change the oil in it religiously and do regular maintenance ... these cars will last!!
My last 88 Honda Accord had over 400K miles on it. I only got rid of it because I hit a deer and tore the whole passenger side out of it.
