Question about 1995 Buick LeSabre
Engine has 113,000 and runs fine through 3rd but won't shift into 4th.
Check fluid condition first if good check for linkage and selector switch positions, also possible shift soloniod problem, if fluid is burned or smells burned you will need to remove trans for repair

you will need to replace the 3-4 shift solenoid inside the tranny - either it works or doesn't - alternatively it could be the wire... not a big deal, but the shops charge for that..

Fourth gear in your vehicle doesn't exist. What feels like a fourth gear is the torque converter locking up. The lockup lockup is controlled by a solenoid in the side pan of the transmission, and the solenoid is controlled by the ECM (electronic control module) in response to several pressure, temperature and speed sensors etc. To determine which component is the problem you'll need a professional transmission mechanic with the proper diagnostic equipment.
