Question about 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Lacking engine power while towing empty trailer up hills, then when it was loaded went too take off from lights up a hill, had too push peddle nearly to floor too go then huge smoke out off exhaust. Pulled over smoke slowly stoped so i continued home very slowly, got trailer off, turned car off. Was a little scared off resart but it restarted almost like normal but with a little lack off power??
Is there a engine light ? If not could be a catalyst that could be plugged , blocking exaust flow .

Dear FixYa Team,
I have the injectors clean up and replace fuel filter, but still it did not work. I think it's the intake valve is sticky, when I remove the injectors there were carbon inside the intake. Whenever I pump the accelerator intake start to back fire, after a few pump on it, engine gets better until it warm up then I can run the car with out that problem. Is it neccesary to correct this problem? If not it cost me a lot of money. Anyway thanks for the the suggestion, my car runs better than before. Limyukok

SOURCE: loss of power
I have the same problem on a s320 cdi, gearbox goes into limp mode and wont rev above or kickdown, at the 1st chance i get to stop i put into park or neutral gear turn off the engine and re-start and then everthing is fine, I read that if you put a new battery on it may solve the problem, it's something to do with the voltage dropping below 10.4 volts. Then it sends a message to e.c.u. that puts your gearbox into limp mode. Hope this will work for you. MERKY

SOURCE: Hi can anyone help, I
Hello John. Most likely your hand brake cable is corroded. When you released the handbrake, due to the corroded cable it did not completely release the actual brake mechanism. The long term fix is to replace that brake cable. Joe
