Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
It will shift but it stops at second and wont shift any higher
If is sticking between second and third it is most likely a mechanical or hydraulic problem. It is less likely, but could be a vacuum system problem(those just make for jerky shifts-not none at all). I would suggest removing the tranny oil pan and draining the fluid. There should be a magnet in the pan. If it looks like a big donut, you have mechanical wear. If the fluid is burnt, you might be able to flush it if a valve is stuck. All in all what you are describing sounds like a real problem. Good luck.
