Question about 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS New Cars
Abs activates and then the lights in dash come on . seems to be getting worse
Your abs light is more than likely caused by the hub assembly/wheel bearing sensor on the front wheels. I would take to autozone to see if they can do abs check.

Sounds like warped rotors. Where did you buy them? The "cheap-o" replacements are made in China and if not stored properly, will be warped when you buy them ! ! ! I'd take them back and have the Auto Store check them and/or give you a replacement. If they hand over another pair, ask them to check them BEFORE you take them home... I've had this same problem at O'Reilly's in the past but other stores handle the same Chinese replacments...

The TC and ABS light comes on when on of the 4 wheel motion sensors located behind the drums in the back and behind the rotors in the front are malfunctioning. A diagnostic should tell you which one it is because you have 4 in total. They cost approximately $80 each CAN funds.

could the noise be the ABS activating
check the wheel speed sensors
if your ABS, TRAC and MIL lights are on a good parts store should be able to pull codes for you

The ABS & TC circuits are related.
It's possible one of your wheel speed sensors may be either contaminated (i.e. dirt or metal filings) or faulty, or a problem with your ABS pump.
Your vehicle's OBD computer will have store the appropriate fault codes, so have your codes read by Autozone or your local Chev/GM dealership. It should only take around 15 minutes to extract the codes and will immediately identify the suspected circuit.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer, My name is XXXX *** I will be assisting you.... When the "Service Electronic Brake System" Message appears, its telling you that you have a fault in the ABS(Anti-Lock Brake System)...In order to properly diagnose your vehicle you will need to take it to a shop that has the capability to connect to the ABS Controller.. Once you get the codes, then I can tell you the diagnostics in order to repair your vehicle.. The repairs may range from a clockspring, speed sensor, ABS Module, SCCM, or just needs to be Updated...
I did take it to a place and have them connect to the ABS sytem. I think this cost me around $100 with the assumption that it would go toward the repairs if needed. Nothing was done and the mechanic spoke to me personally saying that he thought the sensor could just have dirt or gunk on it but did not mention any codes coming up.
Ok, if the light is on the system has codes in it... He may not have had the proper equipment to diagnose your vehicle... But if it says service electric brake system there is a code that is in it and in order to properly diagnose your vehicle, I will need that code... Your vehicle utilizes the newest type of communication which is Can-Bus...Alot of older vehicle scantools wont work with this type of system... You may need to take it to a dealership for them to pull the codes for you
I have this case from Jeep, you cn read it and maybe you will understand why the codes are so important in diagnosting your vehicle.
Case Number K56486465
Vehicle Issue ABS lamp on. Fault codes C1219 and U0126 logged in the ABS module.;The SCCM must never be replaced unless it has an internal fault related specifically to the SCCM module. If the following conditions are found: - fault codes C1219 and U0126 are logged in the ABS module - the SCCM has no internal faults (active or stored) - the ESP and ABS icons are on and - the Service Electric Brake System message appears The fix is relatively simple and does not require replacing an SCCM.
System or Component Will Not Clear,Will Not Reset,Will Not Turn Off;DTC / Error Message;ABS System,ABS Light / Anti-Lock Light;Yes - Continuously
Recommendation 1) Connect the Starscan tool to the diagnostic connector, power up the tool and set the ignition key to run. 2) Confirm C1219 and U0126 is stored or active in the ABS module. 3) Confirm no faults are active or stored in the SCCM. 4) Position the steering wheel so the tires are pointing straight ahead. 5) Use tool and go to the LID in the ABS or SCCM to observe SAS position. If greater than 360 degrees, you must re-center the SCCM/SAS. Fastest way to re-center the SCCM/SAS is: A) Remove knee blocker to access the steering column/intermediate shaft (I-shaft) knuckle bolt. B) Remove the bolt and slide the I-Shaft off the column shaft. C) While monitoring the SAS position with the tool, rotate the steering wheel at least 360 degrees so the angular position decreases towards 0 degrees (zero). Remember, if the tires are pointing straight ahead, we should be at 0 +/- 30 degrees, so we can reattach the I-shaft and tighten the bolt. D) Clear the faults in the ABS and turn the ignition switch off and then on twice to ensure the cluster warnings and respective faults do not reappear. If the fault reappears, refer to intermittent diagnostics. Please note that Service part numbers have been released to allow for the replacement of necessary components versus replacing the entire SCCM assembly. Testimonial: "Diagnostic showed left front wheel bearing sensor. Inspection revealed grease starting to show outside of bearing. Connected test bearing with sensor to wire and both tc and abs lights went out. Changed bearing with new sensor attached and problem corrected. thank You. "
