Alternator removal on 2001 Hyundai Elantra

I have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra with a bad alternator. Upon trying to remove it for replacement, it seems that the lower mounting bolt is too long to remove. What is the proper way to remove it?

All I did was wiggle the bolt out . You have to loosen the power steering pulley and bracket and remove the fan shroud on the left side.

Having problem changing air filter with 2001 Hyundai Elantra.. I know it's behind the glove box, and tried removing it, but I couldn't quite figure out how to. I did remove two clips on each side, but...

Remove the two screws holding the bracket to the back of the glove box and lower the bracket. Then remove the glove box and you can access the cabin air filter door

How do I remove the broken bolt in the alternator of my Hyundai Elantra 2001?

This is tricky because the end of the bolt threads into the alternator bracket. You probably will need to use a bolt extractor kit, available from most hardware stores. However this requires you to drill a starter hole into the broken end of the bolt, which might be difficult to access. As an alternative you can drill the starter hole into the threaded end, and back it out from that direction. .

at the bottom and top of the switch there are retaining tabs. you can try to pop it out at those points with a flathead screw driver, but it is sometimes easier to just remove the door panel to get it out.

Sounds like you got a bad rebuilt alternator. I'd bring it back to where you got it from and if they have a way of bench testing it, then have them do that or just replace it.

2001 Elantra alternator to big to get out. What else needs to be removed to get it out?

Disconnect the left radiator fan electrical connection. Remove two bolts holding in the fan housing. Tilt back and lift up. Alternator should be able to be removed through the engine compartment. Be careful not to damage the radiator.

Power steering pump--2001 hyundai elantra

If it's not a serpetine belt, max deflection of 3/4" on longest segment should be safe,  don't make alternator belt tight as a drum or you will burn out alternator bearings quickly.  If it has serpentine belt, the spring tensioner should keep the belt properly tensioned unless it's worn out.
It only needs to be tight enough to not slip, too loose will squeal and you will have to tighten,  to tight will kill alternator and you will spend $$.
