From listening to your problem it sounds like a Starter Solenod . If your car is turning over but wont start on cold days it usually is the Fuel Injectors are cloged ornot funtioning properly and whenits cold the fuel Gets thick and sometimes Gels making it harder for the fuel to flow and not allowing the engine to start

Did you perform a load test on your battery? If you mean a rapid clicking noise, the battery may be weak. If it's old the battery will be even weaker on cold days.

Check battery and cable terminals for corrosion ... if they are okay...then the solenoid may be worn out on the starter.

From you description it may be that the solenoid on the starter is having staying engaged. have a load test done on the battery to check for flat or a dead cell.

1999 Pontiac Sunfire 5 speed won't start. Replaced spark plugs and checked ignition coil (fine). Sounds like it wants to turn over but makes a "whining" noise. Please assist. Thank you!

Is the engine turning over with the key in the start position? If the engine is not spinning over and you hear a whining noise, the starter is not engaging the flywheel. If the engine is turning over with the starter engaged, the engine has most likely jumped time that creates low or no compression which results in the whining noise.

1999 gmc jimmy starting problems

Sounds like the brushes in the starter are not making contact, could be sticking or gummed up. Could also be the key switch or the neutral safety switch.
You would need to rig up a wire going down to the purple wire on the starter and check it for power when the engine will not crank. If it has power odds are the starter is the problem.

1997 Ford Ranger 2.3L Hard Start

I love my Rangers, and it sounds like you need a new starter drive, better know as the bendix. It is cheaper to buy a new starter. As far as the door locks, I would get the starter fixed first and the door lock problem may go away. sounds like the starter is dragging the power down and could cause a number of strange thing to happen. Hope I have help you solve your problem. I think It will.

I have a 2007 yaris andthe engine wouldnt start....it makes only beeping sounds...all the lights goes on...would be really grateful if u tell me what the problem is

The first step would be to check the battery, check the cables and connections, make sure they are clean and tight with no corrosion, then check the battery itself, if the headlights are sort of dim it's a good indication that a new battery is needed or try to jump start with another car, if it starts then replace the battery. I f the battery is is known to be good and there is a single click noise everytime the key is turned then the starter is the most like cause of the problem. In case the engine turns over normally but does not fire up let me know in a follow up.

Have an 85 chevy 4x4. I just had the 305 engine rebuilt with a new intake and carb. It was working fine for a couple days and one morning I went to start er up and the engine just cranked and cranked,...

When you turn the key front. Listen for the fuel pump to prime. It should sound like a low humming noise that lasts about 3 seconds. If it does then check for spark by pulling one of our sparkplug wires and putting an extra spark plug in it. Place the end of the wire down somewhere safe and crank the motor. If you can't seek spark in the plug, it is most likely your coil failing. So, check fuel pump and fuel pump relays first, then spark. Good Luck.

2003 Trailblazer- no power after key stuck in ignition

Sounds like an antitheft problem I would start with the antitheft system. Usually when you only have one key all keys have to be programmed together even the original. When you have more than one it is easy to program additional keys.

1997 gmc jimmy wont start in cold

there are a few possible things. easiest to hardest, check your spark plugs for wear and gap. if its not the plugs it could be water in fuel system freezing. in colder enviorments it is always best to get highest octane fuel available because it contains less water. try adding an octane booster or fuel stabalizer when fueling up. also fuel filter may be at the end of its lifespan, it would take more cranking to suck the fuel through it if it is clogged.
