I replaced my 2004 Nissan radiator and thermostat still over heating , any ideas?

Is the thermostat installed up side down. That does happen sometimes and will cause that.
Is the radiator a new one if not could be plugged and won't let the antifreeze flow.
Is the water pump functioning right. Check your belts as well.
Is the fluid in the rad up where it should be. Low fluid will cause the water pump to not work. Just thoughts of what would cause your problem.

was the thermostat installed the correct way round . Fans should start spinning at around 75degres c. Check coolant temperature sensor ( not temp. gauge sender unit) for operation. Have a flow test done on the radiator to check for blocked cores.. Have a compression test done to check gasket and for cracks.

My first thought is not enough air or coolant flow at idle.
I would check air flow thru the radiator and coolant flow from the water pump. Are you sure the cooling fan is coming on at 220 degrees ?

Heater does not work at all

check radiator fluid is full the heater operates buy the radiator fluid flowing through the heater core. next your thermostat might be stuck in the open position thus your radiator fluid not heating up on cold days - no hot radiator fluid no heat. if fan is not coming on check fuse first if fuse is good check heater fan motor

You need a good diagnostic tool for testing the radiator for cold spots it could be plugged, use your hands warm the vehicle up then shut it off key out of the ignition go to the radiator and feel for cold spots or temperature variations more than likey your plugged

My cooling fan will not come on by its self ,but it does if u turn on the a/c

The radiator cooling fan runs constantly is A/C mode in order to disperse the extra heat from the condenser. With the A/C off the coolant fan should come on only when the engine temperature reaches about 210 degrees, and then only cool the system to about 190-200 degrees and shut off.
If the fans does not come on and allows the temperature to go much above 210 degrees you may have a bad temperature sensor.

My 90 ford bronco over heats and it blows out the over hose is very hot.

There are mulitiple possibilites here. Assuming there are no other major problems with the engine, and that this happens only from time to time the first thing to check is the thermostat. Ensure it functions correctly and is the correct heat range (ie: 160, 170, 180, 190, 200 and 210 degrees are the normal raanges used) Use the recommended t-stat for your vehicle (including all optional equipment). Also check the water pump for any noise or grinding to ensure it is functioning well. Next thing to check is that your fan is the correct fan and not modified or replaced with a smaller one or electric fan. The air shroud is also very important to direct air flow, and believe it or not it, that plastic shroud everyone hates will help to significantly change the airflow and thus cool much better. These are the most likely caauses. Keep in mind that the overflow only happens when sigificant pressure takes place from the coolant overheating and expanding... it does not always mean you have too much fluid. Also keep in mind that coolant has a higher boiling temperaature and does not expand as quickly as water... that is why you should always be using coolant and not water. Water works in an emergency, but not good for much more than that. The last thing I suggest you check is the size of the radiator... if it was replaced before or if you have modified the vehicle (towing, etc.) the radiator should be resized to accomodate the new load. The normal radiator for this vehicle has hat is called a "2 core" radiator. You may need a "3 core" radiator for the added cooling surface area... most commonly used for work trucks, towing packages or modified vehicles. This small problem can become a very big one if you do not solve it... the overheating can easily cause cracking in the heads or block later if it continues for any period of time.

My 1998 ford taurus overheats when idling but cools down when you drive what should I do?

Check your your radiator cooling fan should come on at about 220 deg. and off at about 210 deg. at idle with a/c off, if it stats to over heat turn a/c on, fan should come on right away, if it dont check voltage at fan motor, if you do have voltage, you have a bad radiator fan motor, more then likely the reason it don't over heat while driving is air is being push through radiator where it cool's the coolant before it goes back into the engine, at stop's no air running through and never cool's coolant .

i'm not being smart, but do you know for sure you are installing the thermostat correctly? the thermostat is there to slow the water flow down long enough for the water to obsorb the heat .also is the cooling fans operating ?do the fans come on at around 210 degrees?is the radiator grill clean? lower spoiler intact? does the engine over heat at highway speeds or while idling? are there any codes?is the engine running lean? possible fuel filter stopped up.fuel injectors dirty. let me know
