Sounds like you have a tire cord that is separated.

Move auto to a dolly to take to shop?


Using an automotive dolly can be risky, If the vehicle is front wheel drive then dolly the front, if it is rear wheel drive then dolly the rear. If it is 4 wheel drive and late model with no neutral shift position dolly the front and remove the rear drive shaft at the rear axle. If the vehicle is older 4 wheel drive with neutral selection for the transfer case then simply shift to neutral and dolly the front axle. Most transmissions whither automatic or manual will be damaged if the engine is not running while the vehicle is in motion.
the engines crankshaft or the transmissions input shaft must turn to lubricate the transmission unless the transmission is automatic and has a rear pump that can lubricate the transmission if the transmissions output shaft is turned in normal rotation for forward direction of travel. This is the only way to to assure there is no damage to the drive train. Be sure to follow all recommended tie down procedures. remember the dolly rotates under the vehicle so one or the other of the wheels must be able to move forward and back to allow for corners. Try to always choose a path that allows forward direction unless you are an expert driver with experience and able to back a farm wagon type axle trailer (like covered wagon) going backward will be a challenge even for someone experienced pulling a bumper pull trailer.
To get the vehicle onto a dolly have some friends help push or use a cable puller to move the vehicle onto the dolly.

If both tires stop, the car cant move, anyway! If you turn to one side and the inner wheel seams as it stops, maybe the you need to replace the clutch's in the read differential. The rear axle has two clutch packages that look the rear axle if one wheel rotates faster then the other side. It's also known as a limited slip differential, but on a JGC the axle has this clutch packs that avoid any slip in the diff. If these packs are worn out you need to replace them.
If it happens, try to roll back some feet and drive straight forward. If both wheels are rotating normal, replace this clutch's. If that don't work, remove the wheels, open the brake drums and look for broken brake shoes, loose springs or worn out bearings. Lift your car and try to rotated each wheel by hand and feel if there are anything that blocks turning. After half a turn, the clutch in the diff. will close, so the other side need to turn the opposite direction and you will find it harder to rotate the wheel. If it blocks complete... replace the clutch. Make sure that you fill the diff with the right amount oil and a special additive called "friction modifier". Don't forget this modifier, because your new clutch will be burned in minutes.

Likely the parking brake shoes fell off the backing. Remove rear rotors to check.

1992 back right tire seized and wont turn


it appears that the brake is faulty and when in forward direction is putting itself on. It is free in reverse. check the brakes are in good condition and properly retained

Bought a 1990 Bronco II from one of my troops and somehow he drove it over here. It's a manual transmission as well. But once I put it in first gear, it feels like something is stopping it going forward....


It sounds like you may have a brake caliper sticking (if the issue is really coming from the front). Does it pull in one direction? One way to check is to jack the front end up and try to spin each tire by hand. They should turn relatively freely. Another possibility, and more likely from your description, is that the rear emergency / parking brake may be frozen. Drum brakes, by nature, do a better job of holding the vehicle from rolling forward. If your emergency / parking brake is engaged, either frozen or inadvertently left on, I would expect the symptoms you describe- moving in reverse, but not forward. You can check this the same way- jack up the rear end of the vehicle, put it in neutral, and try spinning the rear tires by hand.

Assuming your vehicle is a 4x4, a less likely scenario is that something's gone awry in the transfer case, front differential, axles, hubs.

Im am rotating tires on a 94 jeep cherokee the


Move the passenger side rear tire to the front, and passenger side front to driver side rear. Switch the driver side rear tire to the front and driver side front to passenger side rear. Repeat this "X" pattern each time you rotate the tires. Rotate the tires from side to side if the tires are different sizes on the front and rear.

My 94 dakota 4x4 feels like the brake is on when i drive forward but is fine in reverse. I have taken the tires off and the brake drums and every thing looks find but the drivers rear drum doesnt want to...


you could have a damaged drum .. many auto parts stores can test that for you .. could be a bent axel or flange (spin the rear wheel and see if it woobles ... or maybe you have a bent lug bolt .. the other symptoms you have are typical of a stuck emergency brake cable .. shoe/drum type brakes are regenerative in the forward direction .. that is they work with greater force forward than backwards .. so if you have a stuck emergency brake cable (and thats common for dodge) then you may have overheated the drum causing warping .. you can check to see if the cable moves freely by pulling sidways on it (if its open) or having someone operate and release with you under the truck .. it should move maybe an inch and release quickly . of course a bent flange or axel can cause a similar result ..
