Remove the door lining and reattach the rod from the handle to the latch. They are held in by a plastic clip that breaks off allowing the rod to fall out .

The door on my 2005 Ford Freestyle will not latch what can I do

depends if its not lined up with the post upon closing or is the latch it self not latching, take screw driver and trigger the latch to lock position then use the handle to open it if that is working then check lineup on the post and see if the door hinges are worn allowing the door to drop if so replace the hinge pins.

How do I repair the inside drivers door latch on my 2007 VW Eos?

It sounds like you have either broken the inside door release or dropped the connecting bar to the latch. If you pull the inside handle, can you see a broken tab? Check the passenger side to see if they look the same when you pull the handle. The handle is spring loaded so it will always return back to its original position even if the connecting bar to the door latch is not connected.

If the latch does not open on it's own then there is a spring broken inside and it will need replaced. Unfortunately, through the cash for clunkers fiasco, many of the older cars have been crushed. You will need to check your local salvage yards and see if they can help you locate a good latch.

My driver door in ny 71 squareback is stuck and I cannot open it

even with the key back and forth till the latch unlocks the spring is broken in the latch causing it to stay locked or try and take off the inner door panel i know its hard then you can unlock the latch from inside other than that just keep trying up and down with the door lock till it lets go and you can open it or drop down the window and try a rod down inside where the door lock is on the outside near door handle and push and pull the latch till it lets go

Drivers door wont open

If it were me , I'd remove the inside door panel and take it from there. It may be that you can pry open the lock mechanism with a screw driver or a similar tool, allowing you to open the door - which obviously you must do. Even that, though, will not solve the cause of your problem. You may wind up at the dealer.

1989 chevy cavalier - somehow safety door lock engaged and now I can't close the driver door. How do I unlock it?

  1. This is what probably occured
  2. While the door was open the latch on the door was closed
  3. If the spring inside the latch is broken, Working the inner or outer door release handles will not open the latch.
  4. place a screwdriver in the opening of the latch where the door striker would be if the door was closed.
  5. apply pressure to the latch paw while operating door release.
  6. latch should open.
  7. replacement of the latch will keep this from happening again

Drivers door won't open using key, handle or push button. Passenger door window won't go up using drivers or passenger door button

there is a broken spring inside the latch assembally. i dont think it can be replaced but if you remove the door panek from inside you can reach the latch assabally and find the lever that the spring was operating. when you pull up on the lever the door lock will work.. attach a new spring to the lever and to the inside of the bolt that attaches the exterior door handle and you will be back in buisness. had the same problem with my wifes sport trac and fixed around two years ago and sill works fine

The driver side door lock wont go all the way up.

The outside door handle spring is broke ,or the latch spring is broke. The only way to tell is remove the door panel and inspect the rod from the handle to latch. Look for broken spring on handle. I have installed an external spring from the handle rod to latch to keep the rod in the full up position.

Door won't unlatch or come open

Ford had a problem with the door handles not working properly. They are cheap plastic. If the exterior door handle is broken, you will need to drill out the rivets that hold it in, and then get the door open and the panel off. You have to disconnect the rod going to it. Then, remove the handle. If you don't want to drill again, I suggest replacing the rivets with a bolt and nut easily obtainable at your hardware store. I've found that a M7 bolt works very well. If you are having a problem with the interior door handle, it's the same problem. Remember to check your door latch because if your exterior handle is broken, then your latch isn't working properly. I got one at Ford for about 40 bucks.
