Question about 2006 Ford Focus
I'm assuming this is not a diesel...
White smoke would be very unusual, it would usually be steam rather than smoke. If I'm right, then it will be dissipating very quickly unless it's in freezing temperatures?
To get white smoke AND the smell of petrol best guess is that it's a cracked cylinder head or head gasket allowing coolant into the cylinder, the leak is so bad that the cylinder is unable to fire so the raw fuel from that cylinder is being pushed out the exhaust, along with the water (steam).
An accompanying symptom would be running rough/chugging, most noticeable at lower revs. If you drive the car like this then you'll quickly damage the catalytic converters in your exhaust so don't!

try the air filter first and the intake.the spark plugs then and after all go to a garage for checking compression timing and the head gasket.

Sounds like you have a small coolant leak somewhere in the system.Open the hood and let the car run till it gets hot,see if you can spot a cracked hose or loose connection. If you're handy take off the old part, take it into your local auto supply store and get a replacement and some more coolant.Be carefull around the coolant it can be deadly to pets and humans alike. Failing this take the car in to have the cooling system pressure checked at your local garage.Keep an eye on your coolant level and check it when the engine is COLD. Good Luck

Is there a squealing noise like the pulley may have locked up? Make sure you don't have wiring getting hot.Check all areas near the exhaust and at the firewall area where the EGR piping comes off the exhaust.
Make sure nothing is laying against the exhaust or catalytic converter. don-ohio
