SOURCE: Male fitting on heater core inlet broke off in hose

RKmastertech is incorrect. That plastic fitting is seperate from the aluminum heater core and can be removed by means of a special quick disconnect tool, like OTC 6046. Rock auto has the fitting for $5 plus shipping, just for a reference.

There is a special tool to remove fitting. Don't get too rough...you will damage heater core. This will turn a small problem into a big one!

Dear Tim
Disconnect the heater hoses from the engine block.
Using some steel or plastic pipe of the right diameter to fit inside the hoses.
Clamp the pipes inside the hoses, and attach a garden hose or a compressed air hose to the pipe to blow the heater core clean. Remember, the normal pressure that the core is designed for is about 15 # per square inch, so either normal household water pressure or an air compressor can blow the core to pieces, so be REALLY gentle whilst blowing it out.
God bless your efforts.

Get a piece of pipe that is the same size as the heater core hoses. Remove the hoses from the heater core, normally near the rear of the engine compartment 9on passenger side. Connect the 2 hoses together with the pipe as the "patch". Secure with clamps.

My chevy was running yesterday but, I don,t know

You can temporary run one heater hose into the other- either just take one side off the car and route the one hose right back into the water pump or - you can get a kit -
Either way - now you will need to replace the heater core inside the car.

This is an easy $7.00 fix. Go to your local auto parts store and get a GM Heater Hose Fitting. I went to NAPA, part #730-5631. Cut of the old fiting with a hack saw blade, being careful not to damage the pipe from the heater core, put the new one on. Total time takes less than 10 minutes, make sure you fill your coolant resevoir.
