SOURCE: changing spark plug wires in 1998 camry

You aer not clear about your problem, when replacing plugs and wires all the boots need to stay in place, the larger boot goes around the spark plug, making sure the metal is secure around the tip of the plug, the oppisite end fits the distributer cap, making sure the metal at the end of the wire is securely in the hole. You said you have 3 boots, you should boots for each end of each plug wire and a plug wire for each spark plug

SOURCE: How do I change the 3 spark plugs on the back of engine

The upper intake has to be taken off to get to them. Yes it is a pain in the but, not too hard to do, just bothersome to do this to be able to change plugs. Make sure to be careful when loosening the intake as the head is aluminum and you can damage it if you take a gung-ho approach. You will need to replace the gasket but it is only around 12 -15 $ .

Then use the equipment to take the spark plug off to the engine. The spark plug should be twisted counter clock wise using the equipment to remove the spark plug. Then replace the spark plug.In returning the spark plug ,using the equipment you have to twist the spark plug clock wise . Then set the distributor shaft turn it according to the proper firing order that will be set to the spark plug if it is 1,3,4,2. Then the distributor shaft mark will be on 1.If 2,3,4,1 then the distributor shaft mark will be on 2. I removed my spark plug wires and forgot which wire goes with which plug for a 1998 toyota camry.

moz-screenshot.pngmoz-screenshot-1.pngmoz-screenshot-2.pngThe firing order is 1-3-4-2

Number one is the one at the pulley end of the motor and number 4 is at the flywheel end of the motor.

System uses a Distributorless Ignition System (DIS) with 2 ignition coils. Cylinders No. 1 and 4 use the same ignition coil. Cylinders No. 2 and 3 use the same ignition coil.

How do you change the spark plugs on a 1998 toyota corolla?

pop the spark plug wires out of the engine, get a pretty long extension and the right size socket, and untwist them out, replace, (make sure if the new plugs need to be gapped, you do so properly, this will save you on mpg and spark plug life) and put it back together making sure you put the wires back in the same order you took them out! Good luck and please rate me!
