It is supposed to fire from the coil to the plugs.
If you remove the coil wire at the coil end you are breaking the circuit.
These are very high voltage units so be careful!!!

What should i try next my truck quit on me and now we have replace the fuel pump and filter it run but rough so i changed out the plugs and now it will crank but wont stay running it is running and 40

You might want to remove the o2 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter and see if it will run. If it does you have a plugged catalytic converter or muffler. You can also try manually spraying gas into the throttle body and see if it stays running and if so you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator. You will also need to check the pickup wire in the dist to make sure you are getting fire or enough fire to the plugs. You can check for this by putting a tester in the spark plug wire and the other end on a spark plugs if you have a spark tester. Hope this helps.

Put batt. in backwards by accident, replaced alt. and alt. hot wire as they were burnt up. but wont start, motor turns over but wont crank. could it have burnt up solenoid

check ignition module, you may have fried it, if motor turns over the solenoid is o.k. -- your probably not getting any fire to the plugs, check to see if you are getting any spark at plugs

1998 cavalier wont start no spark

If you have no spark try the ignition module, it controls the spark and if you don't have any and the coil is new its the only other option short of wiring or ecu!!

4.3 94 chevy cranks sometime most time it wont change plugs , wire, dist, rotor button, crank module...getting good fire .. and fuel but still wont crank

check the fuel pressure to make sure it reads 55 psi when you turn the key on. if not the pump may be to weak to open the poppet valves on the injectors.

My 1999 expedition wont start. your guy said it may be the pump, the the fuel shut off switch then the relay. not any of the above. whats the problem?

ok first check for fire at spark plugs if there is no fire then your problem could a sensor could be a crank or cam sensor or disconnected wire, check all your fuses, inside engine compart. and (inside the car) you need 3 elements for the engine to run, fuel, air and fire, if one of those is not present then your car wont start, it will turn over but wont run.

Half the hoses are missing lot of open vacuum leaks choke wont operate truck missing wont crank cold

There should be a vacuum hose diagram on the underside of the hood. Try plugging any leaking hoses to get it to run decent first, could have a fouled spark plug for the missing problem or a bad spark plug wire. As for why it won't crank cold, is the battery any good? Has to be charged up good to crank the engine over and fire the spark plugs. As for the choke not working, is it electric? If so, check for power at the choke thermostatic housing, the round black thing, should have a wire going to it that needs power to warm up the choke thermostatic spring.

Change spark plugs and now car wont start.....1994 ford tarus

Do you have the "firing order" correct? In other words, is each spark plug wire going to the same cylinder it was on before you changed the plugs? If you have done nothing else but changed the plugs then this is the most likely problem.
If when you try to start the car it backfires through the exhaust or backfires through the intake. Then this " IS" the problem. Good luck.
