Question about 2003 BMW 325

1 Answer

I have a 2003 BMW 325. My car keeps shutting off, mostly when i'm at a Traffic Light, or even when i'm on Highway, but when my foot is off the Gas. It turns back on when I put it in Neutral and turn the key. What can be the cause? It has become very frustrating, and I dont feel safe when driving the car any longer...

Yes, the *Oil and *Battery light go on in Red. Then as soon as I turn car back on, it restarts with no hesitation, lights on Dash go off.

One time, however, I put it in park after it shut off, and the car locked up for a bit before it would let me turn it on again...

It's been shutting off more frenquently now, while i'm at a traffic light. Today it happend 3 times already.

Ok if you are not getting any other warning or service light coming on that means you do not have any electronic sensors or equipment faulty which is good news as it will cost less to fix..By the sound of it it seems that you may have a dirty petrol flow system which is anything running from the petrol tank to combustion chamber.I would suggest you buy reddex which is a petrol treatment solution and use it.Read instructions and at first you may get a bit of smoke coming out of the exhaust but this is normal. Also if that does not solve the problem, have the carburator checked if it has any, which I can't personally remember if it's an injector or spark system. You may need to clean the whole system and also check air intake controller and engine idle speed regulator(if it has one) which sometimes get dirt and mess the engine at idle speed which is what you seem to be getting.Hope this help.

it could be the EGR valve or Mass airflow (MAF), you can check if its MAF by disconnecting it for a test run and see if it loses power then. do make sure you connect it back after checking.

How to reset inspection light on 2000 bmw 323

You need a tool that plugs in to the computer connector under the dash above your left foot. The most popular brand is Peake, but there are several brands that will work. This tool will reset the oil change light, the inspection light, and the check engine light, and will read out engine control system error codes.

The transmission light is on. The transmission has been replaced, but the light is still on and when I put my foot on the gas there is no pickup. The car eventually begins to move.

You need to reset the vehicle codes and then test drive it to get new ones. Most likely something was not plugged in or maybe a sensor is damaged.

On a highway, if I remove my foot from the gas then push the gas pedal again, I get vibration in the rear end. It also feels like going across a rumble strip but not quite as rough. It will last for about...

You could have a bad U-joint or a bad transmission mount.
If your U-joint have a grease fitting, you could try lubing it. If it does not, then it may need to be replace upon inspection.
When inspecting the u-joint. Look for excessive movement's Look at the condition as to any excsive  rust at the U-joint Look to see if there is any binding of the U-joint Look to see the condition of the transmission mount's and any other bushing to the rear axle assembly
Good luck and hope this helps.

2003 BMW 325i, Metal-on-metal grinding left turn only

This sounds like a wheel bering. If you turn left on a bad passengerside bering it growls louder because more pressure is shifted onto it.
