Car dies My 1994 saturn sL1 runs fine till it warms up. When I get to a stop light and accelerate to go the rpm's shoot up to 3000 and dies acting as if its out of gas. Then takes about 5 to ten min to start up again. It also has died in the same manner on the hi way. I've replaced the idle sensor valve and cleaned out the erg value. Please help. Violet

Disconnect the vacumm line to the EGR valve and plug the hose. If this solves the problem then your valve is bad.

Before spending big money on a fuel filter, you should check the etcs. There are a couple of wires below the egr valve that fit sensors in the head. The lower one is the temperature switch.
Some Saturns only have one, my 1995 has 2.

If it has a plastic tip, then replace it whether it is cracked or not. The newer sensors have brass tips, and will last the life of the car.

Car starts and runs. Once it's warmed up, the engine shuts off tried to start it again motor turns over but will not start. Wait a couple of hours then the motor will start again and then will shut off...

Wouldn't think sensor or computer problem , more likely an ignition module . When it dies pull a plug wire an check for spark ,i think you will find no spark . Just from my 30 years of diagnosing GM vehicle's this has been the #1 cause of a start an run till warm an dies an wait 20 min . to an hour an it starts again problem. But without testing to know for sure that would be a guess . Having a qualified an certified repair technician diagnose the problem is always the best idea.

The engine light

3000 rpm? This is pretty high for idle. You need to have the stored code read from the ECM. Usually this is a simple O2 sensor but with it racing to 3000 rpm I would have this diagnosed by a tech at a shop.

93 chevrolet truck bogging down on acceleration

Check intake gaskets. Pour warm soapy water on the gasket when it's running. If it bubbles like crazy, you have a leak. 2. Check timing. Shoot a timing light at the crank mark. If it jumps around a lot, your chain has jumped. #3. check cam. Remove valve covers, run the engine, and see if they are all raisng the valves the same. Put a piece of cardboard along the bottom, and fold it around a little, so it forms kind of a " half valve cover". That way you won't lose oil everywhere, and make a mess, or a fire.

4 cyl Engine starts and idles ok...give it throttle and it dies

I need to get a clear mental picture of what exactly is happening.

With this said, you stated that the car "runs fine" until warmed up.

Q: When you start the car when cold it idles fine?
Q: If you allow the car to idle until "fully" warmed does the car stall?
Q: As the car begins to warm up, Does the RPM fluctuate abnormally?
Q: Does the car Only stall when you press on the gas pedal or does it stall just sitting and idling in addition to pressing the gas pedal?
Q: If you can drive it while cold does the car stall during acceleration when warm or only at Stop Signs / Lights?
Q: If you wait 20min or so, can you start the car again?
Q: How many miles are on the car?
