Cars with 2.0D engine, manufactured around the year 2005, have generic problerm with the alternator. It is too weak and the diode brige blows up.
On the dashboard you get red triangle together with the message posted above. And the engine starts making a whistling sound. The pitch of the sound incresases with increasing rpm of the engine. Isf you measure the voltage in the lighter socket or on the battery and it reads lower than 13V, then this is the case.
It's hard to get the spare diode bridge - and if you get one, it will blow in few years. You have to change the complete generator. The old one is 120A and the newer will be 150A.

If you are enough DIY hacker, you can replace just diode bridge with better diodes. As I have done with my car :-D

This could mean one of many things but you can start by eliminating the most common problems. Check the washer fluid, air filter, oil, transmission fluid, make sure your gas cap is on tight, check all of your bulbs, check your tire pressure then after you eliminate these then you can take it to a repair shop where they can hook it up to a computer and analyze the problem. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

You need to attach an automotive scanner to the car to decode what service is needed. You can of course do this at the dealer for big bucks, but a local parts store such as Pep Boys or Advance Auto will often do it for free.

I have xc90 d5 there is warning message came of engine system service required with power loss how to solve

Hi,

This is probably due to a problem with the swirl flap actuator arm - if you remove the top of the engine cover (the plastic bit) and look at the top, left front of the engine, do you see a plastic arm (approx 70 - 100 mm long) disconnected?

Regards,

RK

Emmision system service required with engine

I just had the same problem, which I also had in another car, a Jag XF, this can be related to too much town driving, and you may need to take half an hour of motorway or similar driving at higher speeds to clear the problem from the exhaust system, and the warning light.

Check engine light (emission system service required) Help?!?!

There may be problem with the mass air flow sensor (very common with Volvo). This causes the fuel system to malfunction.

You may have noticed increased fuel consumption, loss of power and general 'lazyness'.

Better to take it to authorized Volvo service for a checkup/fix.

My 2002 Volvo S80 is running very rough and a light is on that says, "Engine System Service Required". Can someone help?

Hello. I recommend that you take your vehicle to an autozone, or other autoparts store, or a volvo dealership and get it scanned. That is the only way to pinpoint the issues that are generating the engine system service required message. I would do this ASAP so that you do not find yourself stranded somewhere. good luck with it. regards, Joe

What service does an 04 pontiac needs at at 80k?

gm coolant requires replacement at 5yrs/100,000 miles. rec having cooling system flushed. other then that a general inspection should be all thats required at this interval inspection should include brake linings, fluid lvls, air filter, tires, fluid leaks ect. although there may not be manufacturer requirements for transmission fluid and filter change may want to consider having it done, also fuel system service with injector flush is very benificial to fuel mileage and restoring engine power. gm does NOT ever recommend engine crankcase flushes that some service shops sell. spark plugs in these engines do not require replacing until 100k miles unless causing engine to run rough
